The vice mayor of Rulindo District in charge of Social Affairs, Marie Claire Gasanganwa has appealed to residents to support and strengthen their night patrols to fight anything that can affect their wellbeing.
Gasanganwa made the call on July 23 while addressing about 800 residents in Shyorongi Sector. The outreach programme aimed at strengthening community policing initiatives to prevent crimes and to improve the social welfare.
The vice mayor reminded the residents that security should equally be at the top of their development agenda.
“The wellbeing of the people and the level at which our country is development is all because of the safety and security we have. We have to sustain what has been achieved and build from that,” Gasanganwa told the residents, urging them to support their community night patrols to prevent any possible criminal and unlawful acts.
“If you suspect anyone to be involved in criminal activities like drug dealers, share information with security organs,” Gasanganwa said.
She also urged them to desist from rumors and actively take part in community security and development activities like Umugoroba w’ababyeyi and Umuganda.
The District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) of Rulindo, Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Sam Ngororano, thanked the residents for their efforts in fighting crimes.
He added that they play a vital role in fighting localized security problems.
