Rulindo: Public transporters urged to protect minors

Transporters operating in Rulindo District have been urged to be on the lookout against anyone who may attempt to exploit or lure minors into human trafficking.

They were also urged to fight malpractices such as drug consumption and alcoholism among the children.

The call was made during a recent meeting that brought together drivers of public buses and commercial motorcyclists operating in Rulindo.

While addressing the transporters, the District Police Commander, Supt. Jean Bosco Rudasingwa, said: “You are among the key partners in ensuring public safety, that’s why you should be vigilant to identify and report anyone who may lure minors in ill practices.”

Supt. Rudasingwa also reminded them to always be vigilant and not to facilitate criminality by either transporting wrongdoers or illegal merchandise like drugs and smuggled goods.

He urged them to closely work with security organs mainly through sharing information on anything suspicious.

“Most of drug traffickers use public transport or commercial motorcyclists to move drugs from one place to another; don't make that happen,” said the DPC

He reminded them that the efforts towards protecting the public from any danger should be the priority.
