Rulindo: Motorcyclists step up against defiant members

Commercial motorcycle operators in Rulindo district met early this week to discuss on various issues, and agreed to take immediate action against colleagues, who continue violate traffic rules and involve in other illegal activities.

The meeting held in Mugambazi cell was also attended by police and local leaders.

Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP) Emmanuel Dusengimana, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) lauded the motorcyclists for stepping up to revamp their business profession.

He warned them against over speeding, carelessness and riding while speaking on phone, which at times results into accidents and loss of lives.

He also advised them to always have all required documents on them like driving permit, insurance and commercial motorcycle operations authorisation, among others.

AIP Dusengimana called-upon the motorcyclists to abstain from unlawful acts, including drug abuse and report in time those involved.

He also told them to be vigilant about passengers and luggage they transport and report anything suspicious.

“The meeting was vital because it reminded me to respect road and traffic rules and my responsibility in security,” Paulin Uwiringiyimana, one of the motorcyclists, said.

He urged colleagues to always abide by road and traffic rules to spare lives and properties and also advised them to be hygienic and deliver good and quick services.
