Residents of Nyamyumba sector in Rubavu District, on June 20 apprehended and handed to Police a man after they found him vandalising and stealing electrical wires.

Titien Habiyaremye, an area resident was at the time found climbing an electrical pole belonging to the public utility body, EWSA.

He is currently detained at Rubavu Police Station.

Police said, after the suspect found out that he had been noticed, he tried to flee but residents pursued and apprehended him and handed him and the exhibit to Police.

Assistant Inspector of Police Javah Mvano, Police spokesperson for the Western Province commended the brave and responsible act by the residents to ensure their security and protect what's good and benefits them.

“It’s no longer strange about Rwandans can do to ensure their safety,” AIP Mvano observed.
