Rwanda’s outstanding Gender equality achievements showcased at Rulindo exhibition

Gender Monitoring Office in partnership with Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rulindo District yesterday launched a three-day exhibition that will showcase Rwanda’s outstanding gender related achievements and initiatives as well as their impact on promoting gender equality at community level.

 The exhibition that is in the framework of “Gender Accountability Day” will run up from 19 to 21 October 2017 to showcase is held under the theme ‘Sustaining Gender Equality gains, accelerating change for inclusive growth’. Read more

EASF Director, IGP Gasana discuss enhanced cooperation

Visiting Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) director, Abdillahi Omar Bouh, yesterday paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel K Gasana and discussed enhanced cooperation through capacity building.

Speaking after the meeting at Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Mr Bouh said; “We want to keep enhancing the existing cooperation between EASF and RNP as a key partner in EASF mandate.”

EASF is one of the five regional forces for Peace Support Operations (PSOs) with multidimensional components that consist of military, police and civilian components. Read more

DIGP Marizamunda tips Ngororero residents on sense of security

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda has urged residents of Ngororero District to be driven by the sense of security saying Rwanda has achieved a lot by putting its people’s safety at the helm.

He also challenged them to ensure that what has been achieved in different sectors are sustained and aim at achieving even more.

The Deputy Police chief who was flanked by the District Mayor, Godefroid Ndayambaje and several senior police officers made the remarks yesterday in Ngororero Sector of Ngororero District while addressing hundreds of residents during an outreach programme.

During the meeting, Mayor Ndayambaje highlighted a number of social development initiatives where police partnered with residents saying that; “During the Police Week, Rwanda National Police offered support in different sectors that was valued at Rwf11million.” Read more

Five arrested over EBM scam

Police have arrested five people suspected of forging Electronic Billing Machines (EBM) receipts to claim VAT refund from Rwanda Revenue Authority.

The suspects identified Bonaventure Dusingizimana, Celestin Nibivugire, Emmanuel Bimenyimana, Yannick Muneza and Emmanuel Nahayo Nkusi, were arrested following a tip off from the taxation collection body.

According to the police, preliminary investigations have since pointed at four companies involved in the scam; Bondas Company, Orange Machinery, Optimum and Moonlight companies.

According to the Central Region Police Spokesperson Superintendent of Police (SP) Emmanuel Hitayezu, three of those companies (Orange Machinery, Optimum and Moonlight) had acquired forged EBM receipts from Bondas Company bearing the same items, same prices, issued at the same specific time. They were using the receipts to claim a tax refund from RRA. Read more

Call for safety precautions as lightning strike claims family of three

As the rainy season sets in, entities charged with safety have called on the public to be conscious of lightning and also re-echoed extra safety precautions.

So far, spiky lightning have been experienced in different parts of the country; police have since recorded a number of human and livestock deaths due to lightning.

In the last two weeks only, lightning has claimed 18 people in different parts of the country.

Recent among those was in Nyabihu District, Rurembo Sector, Gitega Cell, where lighting struck and killed a mother and her two children at their home cases include on October 10.

The victims were identified as Albertine Nyiransengimana 28 and her two children James Uwihirwe 06, and Obed Habineza 02. Read more

KAYONZA: More Police officers donate blood

At least 160 police Officers from Kayonza and Rwamagana District Police Units yesterday donated blood to support the national blood banks managed by the Rwanda biomedical center (RBC).

Led by the Regional Police Commander (RPC) Assistant Commissioner Of Police (ACP)  Dismas Rutaganira, the fully equipped officers also conducted a route march that covered 12 km where they exhibited morale and physical fitness – an indication that they are always ready to serve the people.

Along the 12km distance coverage, the law enforcers attracted cheers from residents and later conducted an anti-crime awareness meeting residents in different communities and rallied them on community policing. Read more

[PHOTOS]: Kimihurura pupils equipped with basic fire fighting skills

About 200 pupils from Path to Success International School in Kimihurura Sector, Gasabo District, were on October 17, equipped with basic fire fighting skills during their tour at Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

During the visit, the Commanding Officer of Fire and Rescue Brigade, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jean Baptiste Seminega who received the pupils, asked them to be RNP’s goodwill ambassadors in the quest to educate the public about prevention of fire outbreaks.

At the Police, the children were told of different types of fires, causes of fire outbreaks, how to prevent or put out fires, how different gadgets work and safety precautions in case of a fire outbreak. Read more
