Rwanda National Police peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) have continued to involve in various activities in the reconstruction of the once devastated Caribbean nation through different activities. Min. Uwihanganye roots for synergy in curbing road accidents
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure in Charge of Transport, Eng. Jean de Dieu Uwihanganye yesterday challenged owners and heads of public transport companies to evaluate and follow up their drivers as means to ensure maximum road safety standards and prevent accidents caused by reckless drivers. Rwanda's development and its sovereignty are mainly hinged on the vibrancy and patriotism of her youth, the Commissioner of Operations at Rwanda National Police (RNP) CP Emmanuel Butera said yesterday. He made the remarks while addressing over 800 freshmen students of University of Rwanda- College of Business and Economic who are in their induction week where he presented on the role of youth in nation's development and advancement of sovereignty. Mukamusoni's journey to recovery from defilement and abuse
It's about 3pm as I arrive at GS Kicukiro; pupils have taken an afternoon break; the skies are reverberating with voice of happy and energetic children. Among the hundreds of school children is a 12-year old Solange Mukamusoni (not real names). A first sight, the young, shy and smiling Mukamusoni appears to be living an accomplished life. In fact, Mukamusoni does not only appear glittery girl, she’s academically bright, socially active, physically health and playful just like any other innocent children around her. But what’s astonishing about Mukamusoni is that, at the age of 12, she’s in Primary One. She's academically excellent having scored 91.5% in her second term in school. Read More
Teenage pregnancy: A silent threat to development
The practice of child marriages is a serious violation of human rights and Rwanda society should be aware of the peril caused by underage pregnancies to the future of juveniles. Over one thousand public transport operators in the Western Province have been urged to abide by traffic rules and regulations as well as cooperate with the police in ensuring safety on the roads and public safety generally. The call was made yesterday by the Regional Police Commander (RPC) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Emmanuel Karasi during a meeting held in Rubavu District here he also urged them to fully participate in the country’s security and development activities. Those that attended the meeting include d representatives of bus drivers’ cooperatives and its members, commercial motorcyclists and cyclists operating in the province on. Northern Province Governor Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi has said that Rwandans have matured to understand that matters of national security are each one’s responsibility.The governor made the remarks while addressing Burera security where he was flanked by the Northern Region Police Commander Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Eugene Kabasha along with several other officials. Female police peacekeepers reminded to be models of discipline
Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Teddy Ruyenzi will soon lead the first ever female Formed Police Unit (FPU) composed of 160 police officers from Rwanda, to be deployed under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). In an interview, the contingent commander confides that her force has been “well prepared and ready to carry out any challenging tasks,” citing Protection of Civilian sites (POCs), which constitutes a bigger part of their mandate. “Gender based violence is still a matter of concern especially in conflict countries, and we will also approach it with utmost urgency it deserves,” Chief Supt.
