Seven suspected thieves arrested in Kigali

Seven people said to be part of the ring that breaks into houses and vandalize public infrastructures, have been arrested in separate Police operations conducted in the City of Kigali. They were paraded on Friday at Kigali Metropolitan offices in Remera. Police spokesperson for the City of Kigali, Senior Supt. Emmanuel Hitayezu said some of the suspects were arrested in crime while others were taken into custody after some suspects cooperated with Police investigations and named their accomplices. Kenyan lawmakers briefed on Police role in social cohesion

A delegation of 14 officials from Kenya, yesterday, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru as part of their week-long tour to share experience on Rwanda’s social cohesion in terms of unity and reconciliation. The delegation is composed of members of the committee of the National Assembly of Kenya on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities as well as the commission of the national cohesion and integrity of Kenya. They were received by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Emmanuel K. Gasana, who briefed them on the role of RNP in peace building and national unity. Read more

Kirehe: Six drug traffickers arrested

Six suspected drug dealers were arrested yesterday in Kirehe District. The suspects, who include three women were at the time sneaking about 100 kilogrammes of cannabis into the country through river Akagera. Police identified the suspects as; Frolance Nirere, 35, Mukacyizima Lenatha, 33; Claver  Rurangwa, 35; Xavier Ngirukibonye, 36; Felecien  Ntawukuriryayo, 45; and Naomi Ukwitegetse, 36.  Read More

Stolen minerals recovered

Police in Kigali have recovered over 50 kilogrammes of cassiterite minerals stolen from Rutongo Mines Company. The minerals were stolen from the concession in Rulindo District, recently. They were recovered from the suspected thief on March 7, in Jabana Sector Gasabo District Senior Supt. Emmanuel Hitayezu, the Police spokesperson for the City of Kigali, confirmed said the valuable stones were recovered based on information shared by a commercial motorcyclist. Read More

Rwamagana: Mayor calls for security ownership

The Mayor of Rwamagana District, Radjab Mbonyumuvunyi called upon residents to equally be custodians of safety and security by working with security organs in activities that are designed to ensure sustainable security as a firm ground for development. The mayor was speaking in Sasabirago Cell, Fumbwe Sector where he addressed about 1000 residents. He urged them to have the primary responsibility in matters of security and ownership of community policing initiatives. Read More
