National drive against narcotic drugs taken to Southern Province
The national campaign against drug abuse continued, in the Southern Province as senior government officials including ministers, engaged residents of Muhanga District to actively join efforts by reporting dealers.

Mine collapse: Mining activities suspended for safety audit
The management of PIRAN Resources Limited, a South African firm that owns the concession that collapsed few weeks ago, and trapped four workers for three days, was temporarily suspended mining activities in all their concessions citing “safety reasons.”
In an interview with the Chief Executive Officer of PIRAN, John Sanderson said that the recent incident at their cassiterite concession in Mwurire Sector of Rwamagana District, where the four miners miraculously survived, gave them a heads-up to revise the safety of their concessions to prevent such from happening in the future. Government to revitalize motorcycle cooperatives
The government is in the process to revolutionalise operations of motorcycle cooperatives in order to enhance their contribution to social-economic development of the country.
The government is currently reviewing existing laws to streamline operations and strengthen their regulations, promote compliance and expand motorcycle federations. Read more
RNP holds 9th ‘Women Convention’
Rwanda National Police (RNP) held the 9th Women Convention, to further reflect on the achievements and how to effectively address the existing challenges that affect female officers towards the improvement of the entire force.
Close to 200 female Police officers drawn from different units across the country took part in the three-day convention at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru under the theme: “Sustaining Gender Equality for Professional Policing.” Read more
Nine conmen arrested with 2000kgs of fake minerals
Police in Rubavu District arrested nine people said to have been conning unsuspecting members of the public with fake minerals.
They were arrested in an operation conducted on March 28 in Kivumu Cell, Gisenyi Sector. Read more
Police investigating death of three people at Nyarugenge bar
has warned the general public against making, selling or consuming illicit substances, which are said to be hazardous to users.
The call follows an incident on Sunday when three people in Ruhuha Village of Kigali Cell, Mwendo Sector in Nyarugenge District died after consuming toxic substances. Read more
