The Commander General of Carabinieri (Italian Police), Gen. C. A Giovanni Nistri, on Monday, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP), where he was received by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza at the General Headquarters in Kacyiru.
Carabiniere is the National Gendarmerie of Italy, policing both military and civilian populations.
IGP Munyuza and Gen. Nistri discussed existing cooperation modalities of enhancing policing relations between the two police forces following a bilateral agreement signed in January 2017
The bilateral cooperation binds the two policing institutions to partner in areas of counter-terrorism, public order management, traffic and road safety, Peace Support Operations, aviation security, border security and cybercrime investigations, among others. Read More
[PICTORIAL]: Visit by Carabinieri Commander General
THE Commander General of Carabinieri, Gen. C. A Giovanni Nistri, arrived in Rwanda on November 25, for the three-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the Italian Police.
At the RNP General Headquarters, IGP Dan Munyuza and Gen. Nistri discussed existing cooperation modalities of enhancing policing relations between the two police forces following a bilateral agreement signed in January 2017.
The bilateral cooperation binds the two policing institutions to partner in areas of counter-terrorism, public order management, traffic and road safety, Peace Support Operations, aviation security, border security and cybercrime investigations, among others.
Gen. Nistri also visited Isange One Stop Centre, National Police College (NPC), Counter-Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) Mayange and paid homage to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at Kigali Memorial Centre-Gisozi. Read More
MINUSCA Joint Task Force Commander commend Rwandan Police peacekeepers
The Joint Task Force Commander for Bangui (JTFB) Brig. Gen. Mouhamed Selloum, on Tuesday, visited the base camp for Rwanda Formed Police Unit One (RWAFPU-I) serving under the UN Multidimensional Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), and urged them to maintain their professional peacekeeping services.
Brig. Gen. Selloum, who was flanked by his deputy Col Jean Paul Karangwa, had paid a courtesy call to the Rwandan Police peacekeepers operating in the capital Bangui.
“I came to congratulate you for the unwavering commitment and professionalism you exhibit in your day-to-day peacekeeping tasks,” the Joint Force Commander said.
He observed that the Rwandan peacekeepers have played an important part in the process of stabilizing the capital. The force commander also thanked them for deploying part of their force to Bangassou (70 police officers) located in the fragile eastern part about 474km from Bangui. Read More
[PHOTOS]: RNP deploys 240 in UNMISS rotation
Rwanda National Police (RNP), sunday, rotated its Formed Police Unit (FPU) hybrid serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
The deployed contingent (FPU1-IIII) of 240 officers under the command of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Paul Gatambira, which left in the wee hours aboard the national carrier—RwandAir—replaced the same number (FPU1-III) commanded by ACP Charles Butera, who arrived home later that morning.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Bruce Munyambo, the Commissioner for Community Policing in RNP saluted the departure and arrival of the contingents.
The hybrid based in Malakal is one of the three Rwanda FPU contingents deployed in South Sudan. Read More
Gatsibo: Security meeting calls for public vigilance
Authorities in Gatsibo District have averred that security in the district is largely intact but emphasised individual vigilance and collective response as a critical component to deal with crimes that still exist, and to sustain security in the upcoming festive season.
This was observed during the district security review meeting held on November 27, chaired by Mayor Richard Gasana.
It was also attended by the 402 Brigade Commander, Col. Albert Rugambwa and Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benoit Sindayiheba Kayijuka as well as sector and cell executive secretaries. Read More
Operations against skin bleaching products paying of
A joint operation to seize skin bleaching cosmetics from the market is yielding positive results, Rwanda National Police (RNP) said Thursday.
The operation launched Monday is jointly conducted with the Ministry of Health, Rwanda Food and Drug Authority, Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) and Rwanda Standards Board (RSB), among others.
"So far, we have seized 5,606 assorted pieces of banned bleaching products including lotions, oils, toilet soaps and sprays," Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera, the RNP spokesperson said.
"The illegal products were seized from beauty shops in the City of Kigali, Eastern, Northern and Western provinces where the operations have been conducted so far," he added. Read more
Burera: 200 cartons of polythene bags seized
A suspected smuggler was intercepted Thursday in Burera District with about 200 cartons of prohibited plastic bags.
The Northern region Police spokesperson, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Alex Rugigana identified the suspect as Bosco Kamanzi, who was arrested in Mutara Village, Rwasa Cell of Gahunga Sector.
“Kamanzi was smuggling the plastic bags in a vehicle, which was stopped midway along Cyanika-Musanze highway. When officers on their routine operations searched it they recovered 200 cartons of plastic bags, which they seized and took the suspect into custody,” CIP Rugigana said. Read More
