RNP peacekeepers formerly received in CAR

The Rwandan Protection Support Unit (PSU) Contingent has been welcomed to the Central African Republic (CAR) by the MINUSCA Police acting Commissioner and Chief of Operations, Colonel Philippe Garcia

Colonel Philippe made a visit to RWAPSU Camp base MAMICA in Bangui, the Capital City of Central African Republic on 22nd January.

In his welcome remarks, Colonel Garcia welcomed the newly deployed PSU Contingent in CAR and wished them to successfully accomplish their tasks during their period of Service in Peacekeeping mission.

He urged the Contingent to continue working as a team, to serve with Professionalism and Discipline, he expected them to perform with a high degree of excellence as their predecessors who completed their tour of duty recently in the troubled CAR.

He said though CAR was troubled with insecurity, peace shall be realized in the short or long run.

“You should note that this country is embodied with various armed groups” he warned.

He challenged them on performing as a team…., “be always alert because you will be operating in a security fragile community” he underscored.

The acting Commissioner and Chief of Operations reiterated the United Nations mandate in CAR and while also underscoring the UN core values of “integrity, professionalism, and respect of diversity”.

“I appeal to you, not to indulge in Sexual Exploitation and Abuse...., You are going to work with many other police officers from many nationalities and cultures; you have to collaborate and have a strong partnership in promoting safety and peace in CAR,” he said.

Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Emmanuel Kabanda, the Contingent Commander thanked the MINUSCA leadership for the warm reception to the contingent and hoped his team will be accorded similar support enjoyed by those who preceded them.
