RNP officers undergo crime intelligence and analysis training

Twenty Rwanda National Police (RNP) officers began a five-day Crime Intelligence and Analysis course on Monday, October 5, at RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, Kigali.

The training, conducted in partnership with the Turkish National Police (TNP), aims to strengthen the officers' professional knowledge and skills in crime intelligence and analysis.

Officially opening the course, the Commissioner for Training, CP Barthelemy Rugwizangoga, encouraged the participants to make the most of the opportunity by learning from the Turkish trainers' experience and expertise, noting that the course builds on the long-standing cooperation between the Rwanda National Police and the Turkish National Police.

"You have the opportunity to interact with experts from the Turkish National Police, learn from their experience and expertise, and also share your own experiences with them. We are confident that they will share valuable knowledge and experience with you, just as you will have the opportunity to share your own," CP Rugwizangoga said.

He added that the training would enhance the participants' knowledge and skills and provide practical benefits for their daily policing responsibilities.

"I have no doubt that the knowledge you gain here will help you in your daily work. I also encourage you to share what you learn with your colleagues so that the knowledge gained from this training benefits the wider institution," he said.

Chief Inspector Fatih Biçakli of the Turkish National Police said the training would combine theoretical and practical sessions, drawing largely on the trainers' professional experience.

"Back home, we have experiences that we can share," he said, adding that the training provides an opportunity for the two police institutions to exchange knowledge and practical experience in crime intelligence and analysis.

The course is part of the existing cooperation between the Rwanda National Police and the Turkish National Police. The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 28, 2015, in Ankara, Türkiye, establishing a framework for cooperation in areas including police training and capacity building.
