AU delegation on women, peace and security visits RNP

A delegation from the Office of the Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security of the African Union Commission, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) on Friday, October 20.

Led by Ouriatou Danfakha, the Chief of Staff of the Special Envoy on Women, Peace and Security, the delegation was received at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza.

She briefed them on the force’s role in planning and implementation of women participation in peace-building, peacekeeping, humanitarian response and post-conflict reconstruction.Read more

FIGHTING DRUG ABUSE: Two suspected drug dealers arrested

On Friday, October 20, Police arrested two suspected drug dealers in Ngoma and Gasabo districts in connection with trafficking and distributing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the country.

One of the suspects, a 22-year old, was apprehended in Nyabagaza village, Rujambara cell of Rurenge sector in Ngoma District, with 2.5kgs of cannabis.

Another 35-year old suspect was taken into custody after the Police recovered 1200 pellets of cannabis in his house located in Gasharu village, Bwiza cell, Ndera sector in Gasabo District.Read more 

Smugglers intercepted in Kirehe and Gicumbi

Separate Police operations against smuggling and fraud, conducted on Tuesday, October 17, in Kirehe and Gicumbi districts, led to the seizure of six bales of second-hand clothes that were sneaked into the country through porous border points. Read more

HUYE: Two arrested with counterfeit money

Police in Huye District arrested two people on Sunday, October 15, after they were found in possession of counterfeit money amounting to Frw65,000.

One of the suspects aged 39, was found with counterfeits amounting to Frw60,000 while the other was caught with a fake note of Frw5000.Read more
