DCG Namuhoranye assumes office as Inspector General
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Felix Namuhoranye officially assumed office on Friday, February 24, pledging to continue to build on what his predecessor achieved for the safety of people in Rwanda.
The official handover between IGP Namuhoranye and the outgoing Police Chief, CGP Dan Munyuza was held at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru and presided over by the Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana. Read more...
Over 1600 complete Basic Police Course
Rwanda National Police (RNP) gained new 1612 officers, who completed the Basic Police Course at the Police Training School PTS Gishari in Rwamagana District, on Saturday, February 25.
The Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana presided over the pass-out of the 18th intake, and gave them the rank of 'Police Constable.'
At least 419 new Police officers are women with other 40 officers expected to join Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS).
The new Police Constables also include 147, currently pursuing degree courses, bachelor's of Law, Information Technology, Languages and Professional Police Studies, at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District. Read more...
RNP, Dallaire Institute hold roundtable discussion on prevention of child soldiers
Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the Dallaire Institute (DI), on Monday, February 20, held roundtable discussions on the role of female police officers in the prevention of the recruitment and use of children in armed violence.
The one day event held at the RNP General Headquarters at Kacyiru was officially opened by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza.

KARONGI: Police recovers over Frw840,000 stolen from businessman
Police in Karongi District recovered Frw848,800, which is part of the money that was stolen from a local businessman.
The money was recovered on Wednesday, February 22, from three suspected thieves, who were also taken into custody.
Over Frw980,000 was allegedly stolen from a shop located in Karongi town, earlier that morning, according to Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Mucyo Rukundo, the Western Region Political and Civic Education Officer (RPCEO). Read more...
