Hanga Pitchfest 2022: RNP wins 'Public Innovation Award'

Rwanda National Police RNP scooped the "Public Innovation Award' at the Hanga Pitchfest 2022 ceremony held at BK Arena on Saturday, December 10.

The award was in recognition of introduction of the Road Safety Enforcement Cameras' commonly known as Sofia.

RNP Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, received the award from the World Bank Country manager, Rolande Simone Pryce and Maxwell Gomera, the UNDP Resident Representative.

The RNP's 'Road Safety Enforcement Cameras' was in public category alongside Ubutaka App (National Land Authority), Health Information Exchange (Ministry of Health) and Air Quality Monitoring System (REMA).  Read more...

Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign resumes


Rwanda National Police (RNP) re-launched the Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign on Thursday, December 8, to further influence behavioral change and to save lives on roads.

The all-out continuous campaign seeks to drive change from road safety by law to road safety by choice and ultimately by culture.

It was stopped prematurely in 2020 after 39 weeks, following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Read more...

KIGALI SHOPPING EXPO: Police assures of security


As the first ever Kigali Shopping Festival Expo gets underway at Gikondo Expo Ground, Rwanda National Police (RNP) has deployed to ensure that security of exhibitors and the public attending the Expo remains normal and favorable for the event.

Ellen DeGeneres Gorilla Campus staff trained on fire safety


The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB), on Wednesday December 7, extended the fire safety training to 57 staff at Ellen DeGeneres Campus for Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund in Musanze District.

Trainees included the administration staff, researchers, technicians, cooks, security guards and cleaners, among others.

They were given an insight on the causes, classes and components of fire. Read more...

Police bust illegal dealer in petroleum products, over 3000 litres seized


Police in City of Kigali, on Wednesday December 7, seized 3,120 litres of diesel fuel from a house in Muhima Sector, Nyarugenge District, which was being used as a black market store.

Also arrested is one Steven Mwesigwa, 69, the alleged rightful owner of the fuel, which was recovered from his rental house located in Kabirizi slum of Amahoro Cell in Muhima Sector. Read more...

More 820 litres of fuel seized from black market


Police and local leaders in Kicukiro District seized 820 litres of petroleum products from illegal dealers in Gatenga and Gikondo sectors.

Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Sylvestre Twajamahoro, the Police spokesperson for the City of Kigali, said that the operations conducted on Friday, December 9, followed complaints by some truck drivers in Magerwa, about people, who steal fuel from their trucks.  Read more...
