MINUSCA: Rwandan Police peacekeepers provide free medical services to displaced residents

The Rwanda Police contingents serving in the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), on Friday October 21, provided humanitarian assistance including free medical services to displaced people.

The Rwanda Formed Police Unit One (RWAFPU-2) and Rwanda Protection Support Unit (PSU) both operating in the capital Bangui supported the communities that were recently displaced by floods and currently sheltered at Ecole Primaire Kina of 3e Arrondissement.

At least 120 people were given free medical consultation and medication. The peacekeepers also donated foodstuff to the affected communities.  Read more...

Rwandan delegation attends Interpol General Assembly in India


A Rwandan delegation headed by the Secretary General of Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Col (rtd) Jeannot Ruhunga alongside Rwanda National Police (RNP) Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, is in New Delhi, India where they are attending the 90th INTERPOL General Assembly, which started on Tuesday October 18.

On the sideline of the ongoing 90th INTERPOL GA, on Tuesday, the Rwandan delegation held series of bilateral meetings with Police Chiefs and other high ranking officials from law enforcement agencies in Europe and Africa.  Read more...

Police officers complete training on prevention of child soldiers


Seventeen female Police officers, on Friday, October 21, completed a two-week Training of Trainers course on the recruitment and use of children as soldiers in armed conflicts.

The training held at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Regional Center of Excellence on Gender Based Violence and Child Abuse was conducted in partnership with the Dallaire Institute for Children Peace and Security.  Read more...

Regional peacekeeping course ends at Police Training School


The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Female Pre-SAAT Instructors course concluded on Friday October 21, at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.

The five-day course brought together 24 participants from seven EASF member states, namely; Burundi, Kenya, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda and the host, Rwanda.

The course, the first of it's kind, was designed to build the capacity for EASF trainers to train and assess Individual Police Officers (IPO) prior their deployment to peacekeeping missions.  Read more...

Nine arrested in driver's license fraud


Rwanda National Police (RNP) arrested nine people in City of Kigali, who are members of the group that has been doing provisional driving tests for candidates.

Police out to curb bicycle accidents


Commercial cyclists are among the victims but also the cause of road carnage.

Statistics from the Rwanda National Police (RNP) department of Traffic and Road Safety indicates that at least 81 bicycle accidents occurred across the country since the beginning of this year, claiming lives of seven cyclists and seriously injuring 76 others.

Over the past week, over 195 bicycles were impounded in Kigali alone after riders were found in various life-threatening practices on roads. Read more...

Police tips pupils of Path to Success International School on fire safety


The pupils were trained on fire outbreak preventive measures and skills to use different firefighting and rescue equipment.
