ITALY: IGP Munyuza visits Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units
The Inspector General of Police IGP) Dan Munyuza, who is on a working visit in Italy, on Monday, October 10, visited the Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU).
The Center provides advanced training on Peace Support Operations.
IGP Munyuza and his delegation were received by the Deputy General Commander of the Italian Carabinieri, Lt. Gen. Maurizio Detalamo Mezzavilla and the Director of CoESPU, Brig Gen Giovanni Pietro Barbano. Read more...
Female Police officers undergo trainers' course on prevention of child soldiers
Seventeen female Police officers, on Monday, October 10, started a two-week 'Training of Trainers' course on the prevention of recruitment and use of children as soldiers.
The course conducted by Rwanda National Police (RNP) in partnership with the Dallaire Institute for Children Peace and Security, was officially opened by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Felix Namuhoranye, at the RNP General Headquarters Kacyiru.

PEACEKEEPING: UNMISS bids farewell to ACP Murangira
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), on Friday, October 14, officially bid farewell to the Field Office Police Coordinator (FOPC) for the Central Equatorial State, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) John Baptist Claude Murangira, who concluded his two-year tour-of-duty.
The Central Equatorial State includes South Sudan's capital Juba, which also hosts the headquarters of the UNMISS.
The UNMISS Police Commissioner, Madam Christine Fossen, while speaking at the farewell event, thanked him for his "immense contribution" to the mission mandate. Read more...
Police officers complete advanced marine diving course
Eleven Police officers, on Friday, October 14, completed a two-week advanced underwater search for scuba Police divers, which was conducted in Lake Kivu in Rubavu District.
The second phase of the highly demanding course was facilitated by trainers from Scuba Diver Centre in Genoa as part of the cooperation between Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the Italian Carabiniere.
Trainees acquired skills in transiverse and baseline search methodology, set up trim, review and new knots. Read more...
NYARUGENGE: Trader arrested for selling skin bleaching cosmetics
A woman in Downtown, Nyarugenge District identified as Jeanine Karanganwa, 40, was arrested on Monday October, 10, for allegedly selling outlawed skin bleaching cosmetics.
Karanganwa was arrested at her retail shop where the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime department recovered 121 pieces of assorted skin whitening products, commonly known as mukorogo. Read more...
RUBAVU: Over 160kgs of smuggled clothes and shoes seized
More than 160kgs of smuggled clothes and shoes were seized from a suspected smuggler identified as Fid?le Tuyishime, 28, who was arrested on Tuesday, October 11, in Bihe Village, Rungu Cell of Mudende Sector.
The goods smuggled into Rwanda from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), included 100kgs of second-hand clothes and 60kgs of shoes. Read more...
