The countrywide operations code named 'Usalama VIII-2022' seized assorted counterfeit and smuggled goods valued in excess of Frw76 million.
Usalama, which means 'safety' in Swahili, is an Interpol supported operation conducted simultaneously in all Eastern and Southern Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO and SARPCCO) member states against harmful and high impact crimes. Read more...
NGOMA: Police recovers stolen money
On Friday, September 30, Police in Ngoma District recovered over Frw1.5 million, which was stolen from a shop in the same district in Rurama Cell, Rukira Sector.
The money, which is part of Frw2.5 million that was stolen earlier the same day, was recovered from two suspected thieves, who were arrested later at about 7pm, in Kabeza Village, Kinunga Cell in Remera Sector. Read more...
NYAMASHEKE: Police breaks drug trafficking ring, seize 247kgs of cannabis
Rwanda National Police (RNP) busted a ring of suspected major drug traffickers in Nyamasheke District, which had sneaked 247kgs of cannabis into the country from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The narcotics packed in 10 sacks, were recovered on Monday, September 26, in a house located in Kanjongo Sector, Kigoya Cell in Kabaga Village, where two members of the racket were arrested. Read more...

In an operation conducted on Thursday, September 29, in Muhanga District, Police impounded a bus transporting 1074kgs of smuggled second-hand clothes.

Fighting illegal mineral exploration in Rulindo
Rwanda National Police (RNP) has continued to fight and prevent illegal mineral exploration, mineral theft and illegal mineral trade in the country.
Rulindo is one of the districts in Rwanda that are rich in minerals and where related illegal practices are conducted.
Through partnership with the local communities in Rulindo, Police has continued to make headways against these unlawful activities and illegal have been dealers arrested.

MUSANZE: Police seize 6600 bottles of smuggled Novida drink
Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Saturday, September 24, recovered 6600 bottles of smuggled Novida drink from a house in Musanze town, Musanze District. The 550 dozens of Novida were concealed in 55 sacks.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Alex Ndayisenga, the Northern Region Political and Civic Education Officer (RPCEO), said that two people have been arrested in connection with this smuggling and fraud.
Also impounded is the bus, which was used to transport the sacks of Novida from a point in Burera District, after they were sneaked into Rwanda from Uganda, through a porous border point. Read more...
