Rwanda, Turkey Police institutions 

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Turkey National Police (TNP) have agreed to strengthen cooperation in varied policing disciplines especially in areas of capacity building.

The two Police institutions renewed the commitment when Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza visited Turkey.

During the bilateral meeting, the two friendly institutions recommitted to continue working together mainly in various areas of training like counter-terrorism, Special Forces, anti-smuggling and fight against organized crime.Read more

 RNP, FERWACY partner in Gerayo Amahoro campaign

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) joined efforts in Gerayo Amahoro to further raise awareness on safer road usage.

The partnership was formalised during the flagging off of the 12th edition of Tour du Rwanda, at Kigali Arena.

The launch was presided over by the Minister of Sports, Mimosa Aurore Munyangaju, who was flanked by Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera, FERWACY President Abdallah Murenzi and Commissioner of Traffic and Road Safety, CP Rafiki Mujiji.

CP Kabera said that this partnership reinforces other existing platforms to enhance safer ways of using the road, particularly in this period of Tour du Rwanda. Read more

Police rolls out fire safety awareness 

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Fire and Rescue Brigade has started training on fire safety targeting mainly public places like schools, market places, churches and hospitals.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jean Baptiste Seminega, the Commanding Officer (CO) of Fire and Rescue Brigade in RNP, this phase of fire safety awareness will take one month.

This training was designed to educate students, people in churches, business centres and health facilities on how safe to use Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and the overall fire safety including electricity as well as safer ways to put out fire using varied firefighting equipment. Read more

GISAGARA: Agatare residents celebrate impact of community policing

Residents of Agatare Village in Kansi Sector, Gisagara District held a community policing day to celebrate the impact of people-centre policing on their security and the social wellbeing.

Canisius Kuramba, Agatare Village Chief said that the partnership with the Police has impacted on their lives in line with human security as empowered Rwandans in community policing.

During the 2019 activities to mark the 19th anniversary of Rwanda National Police (RNP), the force lit more than 100 households of Agatare Village with solar energy and medical insurance cover for hundreds of residents. Read more

More arrested in intensified operations against illegal mineral business

A man identified as Jeremie Misago, 33, was arrested on Tuesday in a Police operation against illegal mining and mineral trade in Kamonyi District.

Misago was arrested in Rukoma Sector, Taba Cell in Bukokora Village where he was at the time found with 160kgs of cassiterite and 4kgs of coltan.

The minerals were recovered in Misago’s house located in Bukokora Village, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Slyvestre Twajamahoro, the Southern region Police spokesperson, said. Read more

KAYONZA: Residents warned against child labour

Police and local leaders in Kayonza District have warned parents and residents against preventing children from going to school and engaging them in commercial activities.

These actions violate child rights and contribute to school dropouts.

The caution follows recent operations in Rukara Sector where 11 children were rescued from child labour activities.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Alexis Fata, the District Police Commander (DPC) for Kayonza, said that the children were found in Karubamba market carrying their parents’ goods and other related commercial activities.Read more
