IMPACT OF COMMUNITY POLICING ON SAFETY IN RWANDA
The Rwanda National Police (RNP) is mandated to safeguard the fundamental rights and to guarantee safety and security of residents of Rwanda and their property.
This is a constitutional mandate that RNP implements in partnership with the community to be accountable to them, and protect their rights as ideals of good governance and rule of law, and as a firm foundation towards sustainable security and development.
Over the years, the RNP engaged in various policing and human security activities to ensure the responsiveness of everyone in fighting and preventing crimes as well as supporting government community development programmes to improve welfare of the people.

Rwanda National Police championing gender parity in all policing dimensions
In the early 2000?s, one would travel miles and only spot less than a dozen female police officers. For a fact, women made up to less than 1% of Rwanda National Police (RNP) in 2002.
Hardly a decade later, in 2010, the female population in the 10-year old police force, grew to 10.3% and slightly more than 22% as of 2020.

Smugglers intercepted with 25 bales of used clothes
Three suspected smugglers were arrested in Rusizi and Rubavu districts with 25 bales of second-hand clothes commonly known as caguwa.
At least 14 bales were intercepted on Friday, June 24, from a smuggler identified as Fiacre Nsabimana, 42, who was arrested in Kadasomwa Village, Cyangugu Cell, Kamembe Sector of Rusizi District. Read more...
