The meeting held at Nyagatare District headquarters was also attended by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Alphonse Businge, the Deputy Regional Police Commander-Eastern, District Police Commander (DPC) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Claude Bizimana and RYVCP district coordinator, Emmanuel Bonane.
“In 2019, youth volunteers in Nyagatare built four houses for the disadvantaged families and constructed 4,365 organic gardens to support national efforts on proper feeding and fighting malnutrition; engaged in awareness campaigns against illicit drugs and on hygiene and sanitation… this year shouldn’t be any less of such activities,” Bonane told the sector coordinators and committee members.
CSP Businge thanked the YVCP for their contributions to security and community development. He noted that an unhygienic and hungry society is an insecure one.
“When a citizen is hygienic, food secure, not sick and children in school, we will have limited the young people from engaging in unlawful acts related to drugs and theft, and what you are doing is contributing greatly towards that direction,” CSP Businge said. Read more
