RNP MEDIA WEEKLY REVIEW

RNP trains media practitioners, youth volunteers on GBV prevention

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Media Commission (RMC), on Tuesday, September 28, conducted a one-day workshop for media practictioners and youth volunteers in community policing to further raise awareness on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) response and prevention.

The workshop held at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, was officially opened by the Minister of Local Government, Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi.  Read more...

Rwandan Police peacekeepers in South Sudan awarded 'UN Service Medal'

The United Nations, on Tuesday, September 28, awarded the 'Peacekeeping Service Medal' to Rwandan Police peacekeepers serving under its mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

The decorated include 158 officers of Rwanda Formed Police Three (RWAFPU-3), which was deployed in Juba in November last year, and 23 Individual Police Officers (IPOs).  Read more...

13 arrested for conspiring to commit terror attacks


On Friday, October 1, Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) paraded 13 people belonging to the same cell, which was allegedly conspiring and planning to commit terror acts in Rwanda.

RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that Rwanda police worked with other security organs to dismantle the terror cell, which was planning to carry terror attacks mainly in City of Kigali.  Read more...

Police recovers Rwf3 million stolen from car


Rwanda National Police (RNP) recovered Frw3 million, which were stolen from a vehicle recently in the city centre, Nyarugenge District.

The money was recovered from two prime suspects on Friday, October 1, who were also arrested. The suspects are Abdul Nshamihigo, 38, and Hamad  Iyakaremye, 37.  Read more...

KIGALI: 25 people arrested for driving while intoxicated


Twenty-five people were arrested in the latest Rwanda National Police (RNP) operations against drunk-driving conducted between September 23rd and 26th

They were all arrested on various roads in City of Kigali after they were found intoxicated beyond the limit---0.8 blood alcohol content.  Read more...

COVID-19: 59 caught in bar during prohibited hours


Fifty-nine people were arrested Sunday night at Bonk Bar and Restaurant located at Kinamba in Inkingi Village, Kamutwa Cell, Kacyiru Sector of Gasabo District where they were found drinking and dancing.

Police found the group past 11pm, during hours when bars and restaurants are supposed to be closed and everyone expected to be at home.  Read more...

KICUKIRO: Eleven caught violating COVID-19 prevention directives


Eleven people were on Monday, September 27, arrested in Kigarama Sector of Kicukiro District where they were holding a prayer gathering contrary to the government directives on preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prayer gatherings are only allowed in places of worship that were permitted to resume services and observing the health guidelines against Coronavirus.  Read more...
