Man intercepted transporting Covid-19 positive housemaid upcountry


The health guidelines require anyone, who test positive for Covid-19, to isolate from other family members under home-based care where they are followed remotely or transferred to a Covid treatment centre by medical personnel

FIGHTING DRUG TRAFFICKING: Man caught with 2,000 rolls of cannabis

Increased public ownership through community policing has continued to make great impact in breaking drug trafficking and distribution chains.

On July 24, following information provided by the public, Police arrested a suspected major drug trafficker only identified as Nzayisenga, in Karerema Cell, Kanzenze Sector, Rubavu District with about 2,000 pellets of cannabis.  Read more...

KIGALI: 24 people arrested flouting COVID-19 prevention directives


At least 24 people were on Monday, July 26, arrested in separate operations conducted in City of Kigali for violating government directives on preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

How Anti-Narcotics Unit tracked a major drug dealer in Rubavu


For quite some time, Claude Niyonzima, 24, has been trafficking cannabis into Rwanda and supplying many local dealers, especially in Rubavu District, where he lives.

Like many other cannabis distributors, who have been arrested in the past; Niyonzima's luck run out on Friday, July 30, when the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) caught him red-handed in Gahira Village, Buringo Cell of Bugeshi Sector in Rubavu District with two bundles of cannabis weighing 33kgs.  Read more...
