UNDP Resident Representative pays courtesy call to IGP
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative for Rwanda, Mr. Maxwell Gomera, on Friday, March 12, paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza at the Rwanda National Police General Headquarters in Kacyiru.
Mr. Gomera was accompanied by his deputy, Ms Varsha Redkar Palepu.

PEACEKEEPING: IGP Munyuza briefs 240 Police officers ahead of South Sudan contingent rotation
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza, on Tuesday, March 9, briefed 240 police officers set to be deployed for peacekeeping duties under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
The contingent commanded by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Faustin Kalimba, will replaced the same number in Malakal, Upper Nile State where they will be largely charged with protection of civilians in internally displaced camps, UN personnel, security of key installations and humanitarian assistance, among others.
IGP Munyuza urged the officers to use their experience and the high level of training acquired to execute their peacekeeping mandate effectively. Read more...
PEACEKEEPING: RNP starts rotation of Formed Police Unit contingent in South Sudan
Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Wednesday, March 10, started the rotation of its Formed Police Unit-One (FPU-1) contingent deployed in Malakal, Upper Nile State under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
The first cohort of 80 officers headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Leon Niyomwungeri left this Wednesday aboard the national carrier, RwandAir.

NGORORERO: Vehicle intercepted with 630kgs of smuggled minerals
Police in Ngororero District, on Friday March 12, impounded a vehicle--Toyota Land Cruiser plate number RAC 251G--in Ndaro Sector loaded with 630kgs of smuggled coltan and cassiterite minerals.
Two people, who were on board the vehicle; the driver identified as Silver Murekeyimana, 31, and one Alexis Ngaboyishema, 49, the suspected rightful owner of the minerals, were arrested in the process. Read more...
Over 1550kgs of cannabis seized in Rubavu operations
More than 1550kgs of cannabis have been seized from drug traffickers and local dealers in Rubavu District since 2019, as part of the Rwanda National Police (RNP) heightened operations especially in major trafficking routes.

NYARUGURU: Community policing committees urged to enhance COVID-19 and crime prevention measures
The Mayor of Nyaruguru District, Francois Habitegeko challenged members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs) in the district to enhance activities aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 and fight lawlessness.
The mayor made the call on Thursday, March 11, while addressing over 20 members of CPCs from the sectors of Kibeho, Munini, Cyahinda, Muganza, Busanze and Buheru.

KAMONYI: Police recovers stolen motorcycle
Police in collaboration with local authorities in Kamonyi District arrested one Flugence Niyonsenga, 23, suspected of stealing a motorcycle.
Niyonsenga was arrested Tuesday, March 9, in Kona Village, Nteko Cell of Mugina Sector with a motorcycle, which was stolen from one Etienne Ndagijimana, 22, a taxi-moto operator. Read more...
