[PHOTOS]: COVID-19: Mass awareness and testing for Police officers

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) medical services in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) have started mass awareness and testing of Police officers for COVID-19 as part of the national efforts to prevent further spread and combat the pandemic in the country.

RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that as a law enforcement entity, especially in this period of the pandemic, Police officers are vulnerable, which requires them to have a high level understanding on prevention practices. Read more

Coronavirus did not halt Police operations


Rwanda National Police (RNP) spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that the pandemic of COVID-19 did neither weaken nor stop usual Police operations against lawlessness.

He warned law-breakers not to look and at this period and interpret it as an opportunity to engage in criminal activities.

"We are not consumed by the current situation; we are engaged in all operations against criminality and implementing all issued directives including those related to preventing further spread of Coronavirus," CP Kabera said.Read more

15 arrested over violation of COVID-19 directives


Fifteen people were on Friday paraded to the media at Remera Metropolitan after they were arrested in the City of Kigali for violating the directives set to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

The paraded suspects include two driving school instructors, who were arrested alongside their two students, and eleven others, who violated the curfew and undermined Police orders. Read more

WESTERN PROVINCE: Two vehicles impounded trafficking illicit brew


Two vehicles transporting combined 1, 150 liters illicit brew, were on Tuesday July 7, impounded by the Police in Rubavu and Nyabihu districts.

One vehicle, registration number RAA 982E, Daihatsu type was being driven by Epimaque Kabera, 37, when it was intercepted in Rubavu District in Bugeshi Sector, Buringo Cell in Gahira Village while carrying 900 liters of illicit brew.Read more

KARONGI: 13 arrested over environmental degradation


Police in Karongi District arrested 13 people on Monday July 6, for allegedly carrying illegal mining activities in River Mashyiga.

The suspects were arrested in an operation conducted with local leaders in Gashali Sector, Birambo Cell following a tip-off from residents.Read more

Nyabihu: Suspected impersonator arrested soliciting bribe


Police in Nyabihu District have arrested a suspected impersonator only identified as Bakundufite, 26, who was masquerading as a police officer and soliciting a bribe of Rwf50, 000.

He was taken into custody on Friday July 10, in Rugera Sector when he was found receiving the money from the would-be victim, Eugénie Mujawamungu, 38. Read more
