COVID-19: Public called to be vigilant against conmen

Rwanda National Police (RNP) calls upon the general public to be vigilant and report individuals who are employing varied tricks in this period to defraud them.

This is after one Alexis Hakizimana, 25, was arrested recently in Ngororero district, Matyazo sector, Matare cell in Kamasorori village, who was impersonating local authorities and defrauding unsuspecting residents. Read more

Tax evader intercepted relocating business

A man, whose liquor shop had been closed over tax arrears, was arrested on Tuesday morning while relocating his business after he cracked the padlock.

Emmanuel Ndahimana, the owner of EMA Wonderful Shop located in Nyabugogo, Nyarugenge District was arrested by the Revenue Protection Unit (RPU) at Giti Kinyoni at about 9am as he was transporting 25 boxes of assorted alcoholic drinks to Nzove. Read more

Burera: Over 1000 litres of illicit gin seized

Over 1000 litres of kanyanga and other assorted illicit gin have been seized in separate operations conducted in Burera District in the past three months.

The contrabands were disposed of on Saturday by law enforcement organs and local authorities. Read more

Ruhango: Man held over attempted bribery

Law enforcement organs have arrested a man in Ruhango District in connection with attempting to offer a bribe to secure the release of his detained relative. 

Theogene Bizimungu, 34, was arrested on April 12, in Kinazi sector, Bulima cell giving a bribe of Rwf20, 000.

The person that Bizimungu was trying to unlawfully bail out is detained over genocide ideology. Read more
