34 Senior law enforcement officers complete senior command and staff course

Thirty-four senior Police officers from nine African countries, graduated on Friday, June 20, from the National Police College (NPC) following their successful completion of the one-year Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC).

The 13th PSCSC intake was attended by 20 law enforcement officers from Rwanda as well as 14 from allied students from South Sudan, Kenya, Namibia, Lesotho, Malawi, Somalia, Central African Republic, and Botswana.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Vincent Biruta presided over the colourful graduation, which was also attended by Police Chiefs from Kenya and South Sudan, diplomats as well as families of the graduates.  Read More... 

IGP Namuhoranye hosts dinner to honor the visiting Police Chiefs and delegations

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), CG Felix Namuhoranye, on Friday, June 20, hosted a special dinner in Kigali to honor Police Chiefs and delegations from various African countries, who were in Rwanda for the 13th graduation of the Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC).

They included Kenya's ambassador to Rwanda, Amb. Janet Mwawasi Oben, the Inspector General of Kenya Police Service, Douglas Kanja Kirocho, and the Inspector General of South Sudan National Police Service, Gen Abraham Manyuat Peter.  Read More... 

Rwanda hosts regional training for investigators to enhance skills in addressing sexual and gender-based violence

Twenty specialized investigators of sexual and gender based violence from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) member states, convened in Kigali in a 10-day training to enhance their investigative skills in addressing the vice.

The course organized by Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the EASF, started on Monday, June 16, bringing together participants from nine EASF member countries, namely; Rwanda, Sudan, Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti, Somalia, and Uganda.  Read More...

Rwanda launches nationwide campaign to combat drug abuse

On Monday, June 16, the Rwanda National Police (RNP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MINISANTE) and the National Rehabilitation Service (NRS), launched a nationwide campaign to combat the pressing concern of drug abuse.

The campaign themed 'Preventing and Treating Drug Addiction is Everyone’s Responsibility' is part of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed every June 26.

While addressing the media, Dr. Darius Gishoma, the Director of the Mental Health Division at the Ministry of Health, called for collective action to address the impact of drugs on the Rwandan society.  Read More...
