Rwanda, Jordan law enforcement institutions sign cooperation agreement

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Vincent Biruta and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) CG Felix Namuhoranye are in Jordan for a 3-day visit to establish cooperation in security and law enforcement between the two countries.

On Monday, September 2, Minister Biruta and his counterpart of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, H.E Mazin Abudullah Al Farrayeh, witnessed the signing of the cooperation agreement between IGP Namuhoranye and Maj. Gen. Abeidallah A. Maaytah, the Director of Public Security of Jordan.

33 law enforcement officers complete AU peace operations course at Police Training School

Thirty-three law enforcement officers from eight African countries, on Friday, September 6, completed a two-week African Union Police Officers' Course (AUPOC) at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.

Participants came from Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Seychelles, Sudan, Uganda and Rwanda.  Read more...

Youth volunteers to support road safety education

Rwanda National Police (RNP) has trained 1430 members of Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) in City of Kigali, who are expected to support the ongoing road safety campaign.

The one day training held on Thursday, September 5, is part of the RNP Gerayo Amahoro campaign to further instill the road safety culture.

It was organized by the RNP in partnership with Rwanda Civil Society Platform and UNDP, to introduce youth volunteers to ethics and values of traffic and road safety duties, communication skills and public engagement, and traffic management, among others.  Read more...

KIGALI: Police meets taxi-moto operators to curb road accidents

On Wednesday, September 4, Rwanda National Police (RNP) and City of Kigali held a meeting with commercial motorcyclists operating in the capital in a move aimed at further streamlining their transport operations to prevent road carnage.

The meeting held at Kigali Pele stadium was also attended by officials from RURA and RCA

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in Charge of Operations, Vincent Sano emphasized the impact of moto transport to the development of the country, but added that it must be done in an orderly manner and in accordance with traffic regulations to ensure road security.  Read more...
