Police officers complete motorcycle safety course

Twenty Police officers, on Tuesday, March 19, completed a 'Motorcycle Driving in Emergency Situation and Traffic Management' course at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Vincent Sano presided over the pass-out of the four-week course conducted in partnership with Carabinieri, the Italian Police.

The course was designed to ensure the safety of the Rwanda National Police (RNP) motorcycle riders in road traffic related operations.Read more

425 Rwandan Police peacekeepers awarded UN service medal

Some 425 Rwandan Police peacekeepers deployed in South Sudan and Central African Republic (CAR) were on Wednesday, March 20, awarded the UN service medal in recognition of their dedication and sacrifice to protect civilians and to ensure peace and security in the two peacekeeping missions.

Those decorated include Rwanda Formed Police Unit One rotation Eight (RWAFPU1-8) of 240 deployed in Malakal, Upper Nile State under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and 180 of RWAFPU2-8 deployed in Kaga Bandoro under the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), as well as five Rwandan officers serving in CAR as Individual Police Officers (IPO).Read more

Motorcycles are required to have rear number plate light

The rear registration number must be lit as a traffic rule. 

Like vehicles, the plate light makes the motorcycle more visible especially at night, for your safety and that of other road users.

Some taxi-moto operators violate this safety traffic regulation, which has called for enforcement.

In the night of March 21, the department of Traffic and Road Safety impounded 230 motorcycles, which had no plate light.Read more

RNP, City of Kigali meet scrap dealers to fight vandalism of public infrastructure

On Wednesday, March 21, Rwanda National Police (RNP), City of Kigali and other government and private entities including utility parastatals, held a meeting with dealers in scrap in an effort to address the pressing concern of vandalism and theft of utility infrastructure.

There have been series of vandalism of utility infrastructure in different parts of the country, which are mainly sold to dealers in scrap.

The meeting, therefore, aimed at reminding scrap dealers to abide by the awarded license and the law, and to forge partnership against vandals.Read more

RUBAVU: Scrap dealers cautioned against buying vandalized utility infrastructure

The Western Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (CP) Emmanuel Hatari cautioned dealers in scrap operating in Rubavu District against working with people, who vandalize utility infrastructure.

While meeting 105 commercial scrap dealers, and dealers in second-hand electronics, the RPC pointed out that some of them have either been arrested or implicated in these criminal activities, which have affected electricity, water and telecommunication lines as well as road signs.Read more
