RUBAVU: Over 1600 pieces of skin bleaching cosmetics seized from dealers

The Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime department arrested two people in Rubavu District, on Thursday, February 1, with 1615 pieces of assorted skin bleaching cosmetics locally known as mukorogo.

One of the suspects was on the list of major traffickers of the outlawed skin whitening oils and creams, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bonaventure Twizere Karekezi, the Police spokesperson for the Western region.Read more

MUHANGA: Police impound vehicle transporting 900kgs of uninspected meat

Rwanda National Police (RNP) impounded an unlicensed vehicle in Muhanga District on Monday, January 29, which was transporting about 900kgs of substandard meat.

Five people, including the alleged rightful owner of the illicit meat, were arrested.

Other suspects include those who were transporting from the bush where the animals were slaughtered to a point where the vehicle was parked, veterinary officer and another man, who had issued a forged document.Read more

Police seize illicit electric cables, one arrested

An 18-years old man has been arrested in Nyanza District, Busasamana Sector, Nyanza Cell for his alleged involvement in trafficking and selling substandard electrical cables. 

During the targeted operation conducted on Sunday, January 28, Police and local leaders, acting on information provided by the residents, also seized four rolls illicit electric cables from a local hardware shop.Read more
