Kent State University Vice-President pays courtesy call on IGP Namuhoranye

On Monday, January 8, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), CG Felix Namuhoranye, received a courtesy call from the Vice-President for Global Education at Kent State University, USA, Dr. Marcello Fantoni, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Kacyiru.

They expressed mutual appreciation for the existing cooperation and emphasized the need to strengthen ties in various areas of education and research, among others.Read more

Instructional Technology Course ends at Police Training School Gishari

Thirty-three Police officers completed the ninth intake of the Instructional Technology Course (ITC), which concluded on Saturday, January 13, at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Vincent Sano presided over the pass-out of the 12-week training.

The Deputy Police Chief congratulated the trainees for the successful completion course but challenged them to maximize the acquired knowledge and skills to add value to the force's services and behavior change.Read more

Police officers complete canine course

Twenty-two Police officers, on Tuesday, January 9, completed a two-week canine course on bonding and familiarization.

The pass-out ceremony was held at the Canine Brigade headquarters in Masoro, Gasabo District and presided over by Commissioner for Training in Rwanda National Police (RNP), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Barthelemy Rugwizangoga.

At least 11 new sniffer dogs were also trained in detecting explosives and narcotic drugs.Read more

Two arrested over vandalizing electricity, 138 metres of electric cables recovered

Separate police operations conducted on Thursday, January 11, in Gisagara and Nyamasheke districts led to the arrest of two people and recovery of 138 metres of electric cables vandalized and stolen from different homes.

The electric cables were connecting the affected homes to the national grid.Read more

Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign in districts

The continuous Gerayo Amahoro road safety campaign was on Tuesday January 9, and Wednesday, January 10, conducted in different districts across the country.

In the Eastern Province, the mass campaign was extended to different categories of road users in Kirehe and Ngoma districts.

The campaign, which seeks to make road safety a choice and culture among all Rwandans, was also extended to students, pedestrians, drivers, taxi-moto operators and cyclists in Musanze and Nyamagabe districts.Read more

Police commends public in fighting smuggling and fraud

Police has on several occasions intercepted suspected smugglers and impounded goods that are sneaked into the country illegally. Some of these goods are illicit or substandard, which pose illegal effects to the public, thus becoming a security issue.

These successful operations are largely facilitated by credible information provided by members of the public, a proactive and responsive spirit, which plays a big role in crime prevention and ensuring safety and security.Read more
