Rwanda National Police launches 'SI ZO ZAWE, ZANGE' campaign to combat illicit alcoholic beverages
The Rwanda National Police (RNP) has launched the 'SI ZO ZAWE, ZANGE' campaign to combat and eliminate illicit alcoholic drinks and other beverages produced in unsafe and non-standard ways that pose serious risks to public health.
The campaign, translated as “They’re Not Genuine. Reject Them,” complements the existing “TUNYWE LESS” initiative while placing greater emphasis on beverages adulterated with harmful chemicals and other dangerous substances that can cause illness, blindness, and even death.

Rwanda National Police hosts regional training on blockchain and cryptocurrency investigations
The Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO), in partnership with the European Union Action against Organised Crime and Terrorism (EU-ACT), launched a four-day regional intermediate training course on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Investigations on Monday, July 20, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.
The training brings together law enforcement officers from EAPCCO member countries to strengthen their capacity to investigate crimes involving blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, which are increasingly exploited by organized criminal networks. Read More...
Police FC unveils new signings, coaching staff and leadership ahead of 2026/27 season
Rwanda National Police Football Club (Police FC) has officially unveiled its new signings, coaching staff, and management team ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the club chairman emphasizing the team’s ambition to win the Rwanda Premier League title as its primary objective.
The unveiling ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 22, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru, where the club introduced six new players, two new coaches, new club officials and the squad that will represent the team during the upcoming campaign.
The recruits include Malian striker Keffa Tangara, who joins from Djoliba AC in Mali, fellow forward Moussa Limane from Ghana's Asante Sports S.C., Ghanaian left-back Iddrisu Shaibu, who signed from Kenya's Sofapaka FC, and Kenyan midfielder Mzungu Japheth, also recruited from Sofapaka FC.
The club also completed the signing of defender Rushema Chris following his departure from Rayon Sports. The new arrivals add depth to a squad that already includes Rugwiro Kevin, who returns after a loan spell at AS Muhanga, and Byishimo Valua, who joined from Bugesera FC. Read More...
Over 200 police officers complete VIP protection, urban combat and riot control courses
A total of 209 police officers completed the VIP Protection, Urban Combat and Riot Control courses on Thursday, July 23, at the Counter-Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) in Mayange, Bugesera District.
The six-week training, conducted in partnership with the Qatar Internal Security Force – Lekhwiya, brought together officers from various units of the Rwanda National Police.
The programme was designed to strengthen their operational capabilities in close protection operations, urban tactical response and public order management through a combination of classroom instruction and practical training exercises. Read More...
Regional training on blockchain and cryptocurrency investigations concludes in Kigali
The Rwanda National Police (RNP), in partnership with the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) and the European Union Action against Organised Crime and Terrorism (EU-ACT), on Friday, July 24, concluded a four-day regional intermediate training on blockchain and cryptocurrency investigations.
Held at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, the training brought together investigators from EAPCCO member countries to strengthen practical skills in analysing blockchain transactions, tracing illicit financial flows and investigating complex, cross-border crimes involving digital assets.
Peter Karake, Director General in charge of Crime Intelligence and Counterterrorism at the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) and Chairperson of the EAPCCO Crime Intelligence Subcommittee, presided over the closing ceremony, calling for continued investment in specialised skills, practical exercises and regional cooperation to strengthen the response to technology-enabled and cross-border crime. Rwanda National Police engages youth on community policing and responsible citizenship
The Rwanda National Police (RNP), through its Department of Community Policing, on Saturday, July 25, engaged participants in the Career Center (K2) Summer Camp in an interactive session on community policing, responsible citizenship and the role of young people in building safer communities.
The session, held at Ntare Louisenlund School in Bugesera District, brought together youth participants and RNP officers to discuss the shared responsibility for safety and security and the importance of strong partnerships between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
Participants explored the values of responsible citizenship, including respect for the law, integrity, volunteerism and active participation in community development. Read More...
