Police Women Convention opens in Kigali to advance leadership and career development

On Tuesday, June 23, the 14th Police Women Convention was opened at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru, bringing together police officers, government officials, and development partners to discuss leadership, empowerment, and career development for women in policing.

Held under the theme, "Empowered to Serve: Women in Policing," the two-day convention serves as a platform to assess progress in promoting gender equality, women's empowerment, and professional development within the Rwanda National Police.

The convention was officially opened by the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF), Consolée Uwimana. It was also attended by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), CG Felix Namuhoranye, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Rwanda, Dr. Fatmata Lovetta Sesay.  Read More...

Rwanda National Police calls for safe student travel as schools close for holidays

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) has called on schools, transport agencies, drivers, parents, and the general public to support student safety as they begin traveling home for the end-of-year school holidays.

According to the Ministry of Education's academic calendar, boarding students in primary and secondary schools will travel home from June 29 to July 2, prompting the police to call for shared responsibility to ensure safe and smooth journeys.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Emmanuel Kayigi, the spokesperson for the Traffic and Road Safety Department, urged school leaders to take the lead in helping students travel safely.  Read More...

Station Commanders’ Course participants gain leadership and policing insights through study tour

A total of 206 officers attending the Police Station Commanders’ Course (PSCC) at the Counter-Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) in Mayange, Bugesera District, conducted a study tour of key historical and policing institutions in Kigali as part of their professional development programme.

The study tour was conducted on Thursday, June 25, as part of a three-month course designed to strengthen leadership capacity, professionalism, and ethical grounding among officers preparing to take on greater responsibilities in policing and public security.  Read More...

Two Rwandan police officers complete Senior Officers Basic Course in Singapore

Two officers from the Rwanda National Police (RNP) on Friday, June 26, completed a nine-month Senior Officers Basic Course (SOBC) at the Home Team Academy (HTA) Training Command in Singapore.

The pass-out ceremony for the 25th intake was presided over by Singapore Police Force (SPF) Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Alvin Moh.

Also in attendance were Rwanda's High Commissioner to Singapore, Innocent Bagamba Muhizi, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Augustin Ntaganira, the Chief Instructor at the National Police College (NPC) located in Musanze District.  Read More...

14th Women Police Convention wraps up, highlighting women's role in building safe communities

Female police officers have been urged to strengthen their leadership, professionalism, and commitment to public service as the Rwanda National Police (RNP) concluded the 14th Annual Women Police Convention on Wednesday, June 24.

The Convention, held annually, brings together RNP leadership, government officials, partner institutions, and police officers to discuss women’s empowerment, gender equality, and strategies to enhance the performance of female officers in policing.  Read More...
