Over 800 Police officers complete Basic Police Special Forces course

A total of 833 Police officers including 205 females, on Friday, May 16, completed the second intake of the Basic Police Special Forces Course at the Counter-Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC), Mayange, Bugesera District.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), CG Félix Namuhoranye presided over the pass out of the three-month intensive course.

He congratulated them for their resilience and dedication throughout the training, emphasizing on a more challenging and long-term policing journey ahead.  Read more...

Rwandan Police peacekeepers honored with UN service medals in South Sudan

Some 240 Rwandan Police peacekeepers serving under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) were on Tuesday, May 13, awarded the UN service medals in recognition of their dedication and sacrifice to ensure peace and security while safeguarding civilians.

The decorated officers of Rwanda Formed Police Unit-One (RWAFPU-1) are deployed in Malakal, Upper Nile State, where they largely charged with protection of civilians in camps, who were displaced by conflicts.

They were replaced by RWAFPU2-10, under the command of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Jules Rutayisire.  Read more...

Although Rwanda is landlocked, its waterbodies are vast and cut across the entire country, from east to west. The Rwanda Water Resources Board notes that over 2,100 square kilometers of the country’s landmass is covered by water.

Police Senior Command and Staff Course students visit key sites in Kigali for study tour

Thirty-four senior Police officers from nine African countries currently attending the 13th intake of the Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC), on Friday, May 16, visited Kigali Genocide Memorial and Museum for Campaign Against Genocide.

The visit was part of the PSCSC one year programme that equips participants with advanced knowledge and skills in strategic leadership, and a master's in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation.

The senior officers are from Rwanda, South Sudan, Kenya, Namibia, Lesotho, Malawi, Somalia, Central African Republic, and Botswana.  Read more...
