Over 2000 complete Basic Police Course
Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) gained new 2,072 members, who are part of the 19th Basic Police Course (BPC), which graduated on Friday, December 22, at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.
At least 1998 are Police officers while 74 are prison wardens. Some 1930 new officers were trained at the PTS while 142 others were trained at the National Police College (NPC) where they are enrolled in different bachelors programmes such as Law, Information Technology, Languages and Professional Police Studies (PPS).Read more

RNP hold dialogue on enhancing prevention and response to GBV
A dialogue on gender based violence and child abuse was held at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Kacyiru on Monday, December 18, to discuss strategies to respond to the scourge and other interlinked crimes.
About 100 female Police officers from different departments and units across the country came together in a one day meeting to share and harmonize experiences and to ensure timely intervention.
The dialogue provided a platform for the female RNP officers to share knowledge and ideas for proper interventions; to strengthen the Regional Centre of Excellence capacity to build the skills of security organs; and to enhance networking and collaboration with other service providers to jointly address the the vice.Read more
88 Police officers complete Training of Trainers course
Some 88 Police officers, on Wednesday, December 20, completed a four-month Training of Trainers (ToT) course at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.
The ToT included the 8th intake of the Instructional Technology Course for 35 junior officers; and Methods of Instruction Course, 6th intake, attended by 53 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO).
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Felix Namuhoranye, who presided over the closing of the two courses at the PTS, said that capacity building is among the priorities of Rwanda National Police (RNP) and that training is both a professional and tool used to shape individuals and institutions in all aspects.Read more
GERAYO AMAHORO: Drivers cautioned over reckless driving
Vigilance and discipline on the road are key values of a professional drivers, who makes road safety the only choice.
While speaking to about 1000 drivers of passenger service vehicles, recently, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga, the Rwanda National Police spokesperson, reiterated that the majority road accidents are caused by reckless drivers.Read more
Mobile vehicle inspection lane taken to Rusizi
Rwanda National Police Automobile Inspection Center (MIC) moved its mobile inspection lane to Rusizi District to serve owners of vehicles in the Western Province and neighbouring districts.
"We are taking automobile inspection services closer to the people to prevent them from trekking long distances to inspection centres, which affect their businesses," Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Aloys B. Munana, the Commissioner for AIC, said.Read more
