Rwanda, CAR sign bilateral pacts

President Paul Kagame and President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of Central Africa Republic (CAR) on Wednesday witnessed the signing of four pacts in Bangui.

The agreements are expected to increase partnership and cooperation between the two nations, particularly in areas of defence, mining and oil, investment promotion as well as a bilateral investment treaty.

The signing of the pacts, Kagame said, was an indication of a new chapter in bilateral ties between the two countries.

“Today, we signed a number of important agreements which put our joint endeavours on solid footing. And this is just the beginning. These agreements should be diligently implemented, so we can build on them to achieve even more together, in the years ahead,” he said. Read more

[PHOTOS]: UN decorates Rwandan Police peacekeepers in South Sudan

The United Nations, on Wednesday, decorated 240 Rwandan Police peacekeepers serving in its mission in South Sudan with the ‘UN Service Medal of Honor’ for their dedicated service and sacrifice in ensuring safety, security and peace.

The decorated hybrid force under Rwanda Formed Police Unit-One (RWAFPU-1) deployed in Malakal, Upper Nile headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Paul Gatambira, is one of the three Rwandan Formed Police Units (FPUs) operating under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Read more

Police crowned ‘Beach Handball’ champions


The reigning National Handball League winners, Police were on Sunday crowned the 2019 Beach Handball champions after overcoming Ecole Secondaire Kigoma in the finals.

Eight local teams took part in the two-day tournament played in Rubavu District over the weekend. Read more

RURA moves to introduce new public transport reforms in Kigali


Rwanda Utility Regulatory Authority (RURA) has started the process of introducing new and improved road transport reforms in the City of Kigali in an effort to bring efficiency and a sustainable transport system.

The process to shift to 'Public Transport Generation Two (PT-G2)' launched this Thursday is part of the national transformation process, and will officially come into force in May next year, running for five years until 2025. Read more

Rwanda National Police (RNP) extended the road safety awareness campaign dubbed Gerayo Amahoro to higher institutions of learning as part of the strengthened measures to promote road security.

The campaign was this week taken to students of Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA), Masoro Campus as RNP and partners in road safety continues to reach out to all categories of road users to abide and be responsive to road safety rules and regulations. Read more

Rwanda attends INTERPOL General Assembly in Chile

The Rwandan delegation headed by the State Minister in the Ministry of Justice in charge of Legal and Constitutional Affairs, Evode Uwizeyimana is in Santiago, Chile to attend the 88th INTERPOL General Assembly, which focuses on addressing current and future organized crime, including terrorism threats.

The delegation also includes the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda and the Secretary General for Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Col. Jeannot Ruhunga. Read more

Fresh warning against serving alcohol to minors


Police has issued fresh caution and warned of "legal action" to anyone, who will be caught serving alcoholic beverages to children.

The public are also reminded that child protection is a "collective responsibility" and urged to report all sorts of child abuse, including sexual, child labour and corporal punishment. Read more .


Owners of hospitality facilities called to own road safety campaign

Owners and managers of hospitality facilities have been called upon to understand and own the ongoing national road safety campaign to further make roads safe for all.

The call was made on Wednesday in a meeting that brought together Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and about 140 owners and managers of hotels, bars and night spots in City of Kigali. Read more

NGOMA: Stolen motorcycle recovered


Police in Ngoma District have recovered a motorcycle, which was stolen two months from the owner identified as Joseph Maniriho.

The TVS motorcycle, RC 492T was stolen in August in front of a bar in Rukumberi Sector, where the owner had parked it. Read more
