Rwanda National Police College hold symposium on Peace, Security and Justice for the Senior Command and Staff Course
A two-day symposium on Peace, Security and Justice for the Police Senior Command and Staff Course (PSCSC) started on Wednesday, June 5, at the National Police College (NPC) as senior government officials, heads of UN peacekeeping missions, researchers, scholars and academia reflect on addressing challenges affecting “peace and security in the evolving global dynamics: implications for Africa.”
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, while official opening the 11th symposium edition, said that the global landscape is marked by rapid and profound changes.
He added that the geopolitical shifts, economic uncertainties, technological advancements, and environmental challenges shape today’s reality with far-reaching implications for peace and security globally, regionally, and nationally. These challenges, he said, require strategies, operations, and collaborations.Read more
Police symposium ends with focus on Africa's preparedness and resilience for sustainable peace
The 2024 symposium on Peace, Security and Justice concluded on Thursday, June 6, at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District with focus on Africa's readiness for sustainable peace and prosperity as a forward looking approach.
Policymakers, scholars, researchers, and academicians gave insights on how to strengthen governance systems in Africa (institutional reforms in perspective); Africa's economic integration: Leveraging the potentials of the AfCFTA; responsive and adaptive security approaches: promises of bilateral peace interventions/arrangements; and how Africa is prepared.
The Minister of Interior, Alfred Gasana, in his closing remarks, said that current and future leaders need to learn from all those case studies to develop a forward-looking perspective that helps us to address current challenges, while preparing for future uncertainties. Read more

On Tuesday, June 4, Police Cadet trainees completed a two-day study tour designed to enrich their knowledge on Rwanda's history.
The Officer Cadets visited the National Liberation Museum Park (Mulindi), Kigali Genocide Memorial, Campaign against Genocide Museum and the Parliament of Rwanda -- Chamber of Deputies -- where they were received by the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security.Read more
NYARUGENGE: Police seize over 4700 pieces of banned skin bleaching cosmetics
Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in Nyarugenge District, who was supplying assorted outlawed skin bleaching cosmetics.
In an operation conducted on Tuesday, June 4, Police recovered 4792 pieces of the banned creams and oils in his shop located in the commercial centre in Nyarurembo village, Kiyovu cell of Nyarugenge sector. Read more
