TOUR DU RWANDA: Police urges public to facilitate safer competition

The 16th edition of the international cycling competition, Tour du Rwanda, gets underway this Sunday, February 18, and Rwanda National Police (RNP) has urged spectators not to destruct competitors.

70 arrested in Police crackdown on livestock theft

About 70 people have been arrested in different parts of the country over the past three months in connection with theft of livestock.

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga said those arrested belong to chains of thieves, transporters, owners of meat shops, bars, restaurants and supermarkets where meat is sold.Read more

Over 100 Police officers donate blood

Some 109 Police officers, on Friday, February 16, donated blood in a voluntary exercise supervised by Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Kacyiru.

The blood donors are from different departments and units at the General Headquarters and central region.

It is a periodic voluntary act to support the national blood transfusion as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RNP and RBC to boost national blood bank.Read more

Rwanda National Police (RNP) renewed the call against noise pollution, which affects the health, beliefs and well-being of other people.

Police seize over 300 stolen mobile phones, seven arrested

Rwanda National Police (RNP) seized assorted stolen electronics, including 308 mobile phones, and arrested seven people in operations conducted in the central business district, Nyarugenge.

Those arrested in operations conducted on Tuesday, February 13, include dealers, who buy stolen electronics, and technicians, who sometimes modify serial numbers.

They were all handed over to RIB for further investigations.

During the operations, Police also recovered from the suspects 28 tablets, four laptops and a desktop.Read more

Over the past week, Gerayo Amahoro campaign continued in different parts of the country to further influence behavioral change on safer ways of using the road.

In the week under review, the campaign, which seeks to instill the culture of respecting traffic rules and regulations, was extended to over 10000 road users, who include drivers, taxi-moto operators, commercial cyclists, passengers, pedestrians and students.Read more
