Rwandan peacekeepers in South Sudan extend COVID-19 prevention awareness to IDPs

The medical section of Rwanda Formed Police Unit Three (FPU-3) serving under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) started sensitization campaigns in Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps on fighting and preventing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

KIGALI: Police breaks racket of thieves

Rwanda National Police (RNP) arrested eight people said to have been masquerading as security personnel, intimidating, and fleecing unwitting members of the public.

The group was showed to the media on Saturday, May 22, at the Police Metropolitan headquarters in Remera, Gasabo District.

The racket includes the ringleaders; Joseph Nsengiyumva, 40, Laurien Niyoyita, 33, Jean Paul Rukinda, 35 and Alexis Fayizari.  Readmore...

COVID-19: Over 150 arrested in prohibited parties

Rwanda National Police (RNP) in collaboration with local leaders arrested 153 people after they were found holding separate parties in Rusizi and Nyanza districts.

Those arrested include 50 people, who were on Sunday, May 26, found holding a bridal shower in Kadashya Village, Ruganda Cell of Kamembe Sector in Rusizi District.

RUSIZI: Drug dealer arrested with 1000 pellets of cannabis 

A suspected major drug dealer was arrested on Sunday, May 16, in Kamembe, Rusizi District.

Beatrice Mukandayisaba, 27, was at the time collecting a new consignment of about 1000 pellets of cannabis when she was arrested by the Police.

She is a resident of Kadashya Village, Ruganda Cell of Gihundwe Sector also in Rusizi District.

The Western region Police spokesperson, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Bonaventure Twizere Karekezi said residents first intercepted a taxi-moto operator, who was delivering the narcotics to Mukandayisaba.  Readmore...

Over 22kgs of cannabis seized in Rusizi

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Monday, May 17, seized 22kgs and 693 pellets of cannabis in Mururu Sector, Rusizi District, and arrested one person in connection with the act.

The arrested suspect, Eric Niyonkuru, 27, is said to be working for a major drug dealer identified as Damien Bangamwabo, 65, still at large.

The narcotics were recovered in the house of Bangamwabo located in Cyete Village, Kagarama Cell in Mururu Sector where Niyonkuru was also arrested.  Readmore... 

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Revenue Protection Unit (RPU) impounded 110kgs of second-hand clothes commonly known as ?Caguwa? from a smuggler in Rusizi District, who was also taken into custody.

Felicien Nziyumvira, 25, was arrested on Wednesday, May 19, in Gitwa Village, Shagasha Cell in Gihundwe Sector. Four other accomplices escaped during the operation, Police said.  Readmore...

WESTERN PROVINCE: Police seize over 12,000 pellets of cannabis

Rwanda National Police (RNP) seized 12, 189 from suspected major drug dealers in Rubavu and Ngororero districts and arrested two people in connection with the act. The successful operations were conducted separately on Thursday and Friday.

In Rubavu District, the duo of Boniface Subiramunama, 46, and Rafita Mujawimana, 28, were arrested on Thursday, May 20, in Rugerero Sector, Rugerero Cell with 4,300 pellets of cannabis.  Readmore...
