31 motorcyclists arrested for riding on sidewalks
Thirty-one taxi-moto operators were arrested on various roads in City of Kigali for allegedly riding on walkways.
The traffic offenders were showed to the media on Friday, December 25, at the Metropolitan Police headquarters in Remera.
Rwanda National Police (RNP) spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that their actions were also destroying public infrastructure, violating rights of pedestrians and leading to accidents. Read more
COVID-19: Police calls for compliance during festive celebrations
As we usher into the festive season, Rwanda National Police (RNP) reminds the general public to enjoy responsibly in compliance with the Government directives meant to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that as Rwanda, like the rest of the world, is still faced with the deadly COVID-19, it requires changing attitude and actions in the festive season celebrations.
“As you start or plan for the festive celebrations, remember that the pandemic of COVID-19 is still in our midst; we are seeing many daily infections and people are still dying. Nyamagabe: Four arrested in illegal mining activities
Police in Nyamagabe District arrested four men after they were found in illegal mining activities in Musange Sector, Musangano Cell.
This was during a security operation against illegal mining in Musange conducted on December 24.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Theobald Kanamugire, the Police spokesperson for the Southern region, said that the quartet was reported by a resident of Munini village whose land was being destroyed by illegal miners. Read more
COVID-19: 16 arrested for holding party
On Wednesday, December 23, sixteen youth were paraded to the media at Amahoro stadium after they were arrested for holding a birthday party.
The violators include 14 young women and two young men.
The birthday party for a certain Deborah Shema was held in the night of December 19, in Niboye Sector, Kicukiro District.
It came to light after some concerned members of the public reported the violations. Read more
Nyagatare: Over 120,000 pieces of plastic bag seized
Security organs in Nyagatare District, on Tuesday, December 22, intercepted a group of smugglers that had sneaked into Rwanda assorted outlawed products, including over 120, 000 pieces of non-biodegradable plastic bag.
The traffickers were intercepted in Ryeru Village, Ryeru Cell of Rwempasha Sector after they crossed into Rwanda from Uganda with the products through a porous border.
Other seized goods include 14 litres of banned illicit gin locally known as Kanyanga, food flavours and lotions. Read more
COVID-19: Movements prohibited from 8pm effective today
Rwanda National Police (RNP) reminds all residents of Rwanda that effective this Tuesday, December 22, movements are prohibited between 8pm and 4am.
This is one of the directives by the Cabinet Meeting held on December 14.
Rwanda National Police spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera advised the general public to adjust their daily plans accordingly in line with this directive.Read more
COVID-19: Violators caught in bars drinking
At least 50 people were caught in Nyabihu District after they were found in bars drinking illicit brew.
This was during inspection and operations on compliance with COVID-19 directives conducted jointly by the Police and local authorities in Jenda Sector, on December 19-20.
They were arrested in two separate bars owned by Emmanuel Kubwimana, 45, and Felix Niyoyita, 32 located in Nyirakigugu and Kabatezi cells, respectively. Read more
