Rwanda, The Gambia Police forces hold bilateral talks
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza, on Thursday, received his counterpart of The Gambia, Alhaji Mamour Jobe at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Headquarters in Kacyiru.
IGP Jobe and his delegation are in Rwanda for a week-long visit aimed at benchmarking best policing practices for home customization as part of their ongoing security reforms.
IGP Munyuza, while speaking during the bilateral meeting, said that RNP prioritizes and values, among other aspects, regional and bilateral cooperation to join efforts in the fight against cross-border and transnational crimes such as terrorism, which continue to pose threats to continental and international peace and security. Gen. Dallaire pays courtesy call on IGP
Gen (rtd) Romeo Dallaire, on November 13, paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza at Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.
RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said that Gen. Dallaire's visit aimed at discussing partnership between RNP and his child soldiers initiative. Read more

The Chief of Police Selection and Recruitment Section at the UN Headquarters in New York, Commissioner (Rtd) Ata Yenigun, on November 10, visited the Rwandan Police peacekeepers deployed in Bangui under the UN multidimensional integrated Stabilisation Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
The visit was in line with the “verification of MINUSCA units’ base camps” as well as the “service performance” of Protection Support Units (PSU) and Formed Police Units (FPU). Read more
RNP warns of legal action against emergency call centre abuse
Rwanda National Police (RNP) has cautioned the general public against "obstructing and abusing" Emergency Call Centre services.
The force said these abuses continue to affect its emergency response services to the people in need, and warned of "legal action to anyone, who will be caught in these cybercrimes and service degradation." Read more
[PHOTOS]: Gerayo Amahoro campaign shifts to taxi-moto operators
The national road safety sensitization campaign —Gerayo Amahoro—to prevent accidents resulting from human behaviours was on Tuesday extended to taxi-moto operators across the country as focus shifted to the main means of transport said to be one of the major causes fatal accidents.
It came in the 27th week of the year-long campaign designed to influence positive actions of all categories of road users—motorists, cyclists, motorcyclists, passengers and pedestrians. Read more
Joint operations seized illegal goods worth Rwf80 million
Joint operations conducted by law enforcement agencies and other institutions arrested at least 46 people suspected of trading in counterfeit, expired, illicit, stolen and smuggled goods.
They were arrested in a six-day operation dubbed ‘Operation Usalaama VI’ conducted between October 30 and November 4, during which illegal goods worth over Rwf80 million were seized from the suspects.
At least ten of those arrested during the operations are major drug dealers. Read more
NYARUGURU: Residents celebrate benefits of community policing
Since 2010, Rwanda National Police (RNP) has conducted its annual community human security activities commonly known as Police Month.
The month-long community development activities, which are also part of the RNP anniversary, focuses on supporting communities and to cement the people-centered policing—a community policing methodology—and raising awareness against high impact crimes. Read more
GAKENKE: Youth Volunteers in environmental protection drive
Members of Rwanda Youth volunteers in Community Policing in Gakenke District, on Thursday, conducted a tree planting exercise to support the national environmental protection drive.
The youth, who were joined by Police and local authorities in the district, planted about 5000 trees as part of the national afforastation programme. Read more
NYAGATARE: Man arrested trafficking narcotics in milk container
Police in Nyagatare District, on Friday, arrested a man after he was found trafficking cannabis in a milk container.
Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Hamdun Twizeyimana, the Police spokesperson for the Eastern region, said that Evode Nyamuberwa had concealed 438 pellets of cannabis in a jerrycan of milk. Read more
