UN peacekeeping course ends at Gishari
The United Nations Police Officer Course (UNPOC) ended at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District as the regional peace and security body—EASF—continues to develop their capacity in peacekeeping duties.
Over 50 Police officers from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) member countries took part in the 6th UNPOC intake which lasted for two weeks. Read more

Crime prevention: Motorcyclists in Nyarugenge recommit to fight crimes
Over 150 commercial motorcyclists operating in Nyarugenge District organised under their cooperative-- COTRAMONYA- recommitted to play an active role in the fight against crimes particularly trafficking of illicit drugs and abuse.
The taxi-motor operators made fresh commitment this week during their meeting with the Police held in Nyarugenge Sector. Read more
Ngoma: Students form five anti-crime clubs
In an effort to further prevent crimes, students of IPRC-Ngoma and ASPEK, both in Ngoma District, on June 20, formed five anti -crime clubs.
The newly established anti-crime clubs, in the two schools will mainly focus on raising awareness against high impact crimes such as corruption, human trafficking, drug trafficking and abuse, and Gender Based Violence. Read more
Nyagatare: Fight against illicit drugs paying off
The Governor of the Eastern Province, Fred Mufukukye has urged residents of Nyagatare District to up their community policing efforts in identifying and reporting drug dealers.
The Governor made the call last week in Musheri Sector where he addressed hundreds of residents during a public exercise to dispose of assorted contrabands seized by the Police in the past month. Read more
Police wins Genocide Memorial Handball Tournament
Police Handball Club won the 2018 Genocide Memorial Tournament for the third record time after they outsmarted APR 29-26 in the finals played last week at Kimisagara Youth Centre.
In the build up to the finals, the law enforcers, who came in as defending champions, came on top of their Group A with easy wins over GS Saint Aloys (45-25) and ES Kigoma (36-17). Read more
