COVID-19: Rwandan peacekeepers operational readiness amid Coronavirus
Rwandan Police peacekeepers continue to carry out their mandated tasks despite the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Their peacekeeping duties are implemented in line with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines on COVID-19 Prevention.
In South Sudan, the contingent commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Claude Tembo, said that they put in place preventive measures for COVID-19, which have helped officers fulfill their tasks as well as being strong and healthy. Read more
COVID-19: Youth volunteers in mass campaign against Coronavirus
Members of Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) started mass awareness campaign to influence positive behaviours and actions against novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The awareness activities, according to RYVCP leadership, were initiated to supplement the government efforts and Rwanda National Police (RNP) in particular, to fight and prevent the spread of Coronavirus especially in business centres like markets and trading centres. Read more
COVID-19: Nine arrested for violating directives
Nine people were arrested Wednesday in Kicukiro District violating the curfew and exceeding the required maximum number of passengers in a vehicle.
Rwanda National Police (RNP), CP John Bosco Kabera said that they were caught at about 9am.
A curfew starts at 8pm up to 5am.
Besides violating the curfew, CP Kabera said, they were traveling in a vehicle authorised to carry only four people in this period as part of the measure adopted to prevent the spread and combat the pandemic of Coronavirus. Read more

COVID-19: Drivers warned against smuggling people across regions
Rwanda National Police (RNP) sternly warned transporters against smuggling people across regions.
The new government measures to contain and prevent the spread of Coronavirus, among others, prohibits movements across provinces and City of Kigali, where people are.
Barely a week after two vehicles were intercepted in Kanyinya, Nyarugenge District transporting people, who were sneaking out of Kigali to the Northern Province; another driver was arrested in the night of May 9, smuggling people in and out of Kigali. Read more
Nyagatare: Police recovers stolen money, suspect arrested
Police in Nyagatare District recovered Rwf612, 000, which is part of the money stolen from a businesswoman in Kigali.
The money was recovered from one Samuel Mbatezimana, 22, who was a domestic worker for the victim at her residence in Kicukiro District. Read more
