Rwanda, Central African Republic law enforcement officers start special forces course

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Felix Namuhoranye, on Thursday, October 12, opened the 12th intake of the Basic Special Forces Course at the Counter Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) Mayange in Bugesera District.

Some 293 Police officers, including 44 allied students from law enforcement agencies in Central African Republic (CAR), are taking part in the six-month highly demanding course. Read more

Central African Republic Gendarmerie Chief pays courtesy call on Inspector General

The Director General for Central African Republican Gendarmerie, Landry Urlich Depot, on Monday, October 9, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Felix Namuhoranye, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters, Kacyiru.

Gen. Landry is in Rwanda since Sunday for a week-long visit.

Discussions between IGP Namuhoranye and Gen. Landry focused on strengthening the existing cooperation in various law enforcement disciplines. Read more

180 Rwandan Police peacekeepers in CAR awarded UN medals for outstanding service

Some 180 Rwandan Police peacekeepers serving under the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA) were on Wednesday, October 11, awarded the UN service medals in recognition of their sacrifice to protect civilians.

The medal parade ceremony for Rwanda Formed Police Unit-Three (RWAFPU3-1) was held at their base-camp in Bangassou city.Read more

Police reminds hospitality establishments to respect operating hours

Rwanda National Police (RNP) has reminded owners of bars and nightclubs to respect the set operation guidelines and hours.

In August, Rwanda Development Board (RDB) released new guidelines on night-time activities in hospitality establishments, as per the Cabinet resolution of August 1. Read more

KICUKIRO: Five arrested for vandalizing electricity infrastructure

Separate operations conducted by the Police and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) on Thursday, October 12, in Kicukiro District led to the arrest of five people suspected of vandalizing electricity infrastructure. 

Police and REG staff recovered assorted items from the five people, including 7 power metres, 32 electricity connectors, 35 clamps, 4 fuses and 153 metres of electric cables.  Read more
