Presidents Kagame, Keita honoured in Burkina Faso
President Paul Kagame on Friday arrived in Ouagadougou where he was invited by his counterpart, President Roch-Marc Christian Kaboré of Burkina Faso, for the 26th edition of the FESPACO.
On Friday evening, Kagame attended a dinner hosted in his honor by his counterpart, during which he was awarded, alongside President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta of Mali, the ‘Grand Croix de l’Etalon’.
“I wish to dedicate this recognition to the people of Rwanda, as we commemorate together, twenty-five years of a challenging, yet satisfying journey of recovery and nation-building,” he said while receiving the award. Read more
President Kagame makes case for Single African Air Transport Market
Operationalisation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) will among other things eliminate challenges of geography which have been a common reason for continent’s underdevelopment, President Paul Kagame has said.
Kagame was speaking at the opening of the ongoing Aviation Africa Summit at the Kigali Convention Centre.
Launched in January last year, SAATM is one of the African Union’s flagship initiatives meant to create a single unified air transport market in Africa.

President Kagame urges Nyamagabe residents to work towards self-reliance
President Paul Kagame encouraged citizens of Nyamagabe District and surrounding areas to use the little available resources to solve their own problems, rather than wait for external support.
The President was addressing thousands of citizens on Tuesday in Nyamagabe District.
The rally was part of the President’s Citizen Outreach programme that he started in the region on Monday with a meeting with opinion leaders from Southern Province in Huye District.
“The key is hard work and doing it together. We cannot reach our goals without working for them. We cannot stop at wishful thinking. Work is the only thing that will get us there,” he said. Read more
120 Police officers donate blood
About 120 Police officers attached to the Counter-Terrorism Training Centre (CTTC) Mayange in Bugesera District donated blood as part of the ongoing Rwanda National Police (RNP) voluntary exercise.
According to the National Center Blood Transfusion (NCBT), the officers donated about 450ml of blood in a humanitarian exercise conducted on February 28. Read more

Kamonyi: Police impound vehicle with smuggled used clothes
A commuter vehicle loaded with 29 bales of secondhand clothes was impounded by the Police in Kamonyi District on Saturday.
The vehicle; RAA 081C, Toyota Hiace was intercepted Muganza Cell of Runda Sector along Kamonyi-Kigali highway.
Two people who were on board were also taken into custody, Rwanda National Police (RNP) spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera, said. Read more
Over 250 private security personnel complete 'Basic Guard Course'
At least 277 private security personnel working with Intersec Security Company (ISCO), on Friday, completed a three-month ‘Basic Guard Course’ at Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.
During the intensive training, the guards received skills including arms handling, striping and assembling , martial arts and drill among other security related skills.
At the pass out, trainees demonstrated skills acquired during the training that mainly consisted of operational skills. Read more

The Azam Rwanda Premier League entered Day 18 on Thursday as Police Football Club welcomed struggling Gicumbi FC at Stade de Kigali.
Gilbert Mphande's side proved a notch high as they eased past the visitors with a brace from striker Issaie Songa and a goal each from Muhamed Mushimiyimana and Kevin Hakizimana. Read more
Fraudster arrested with forged money
Police in Kicukiro District arrested a man suspected to be defrauding unsuspecting members of the public with forged currency notes.
Gabes Iyamuremye was arrested on Wednesday in Kabeza Village, Karembure Cell of Kicukiro Sector after one of the victims called the Police.
He is said to be part of the ring that defrauded one of the victim of Rwf2.8 million after giving him counterfeit currency notes amounting to US$3150, Police said. Read more
Police intercept vehicle loaded with smuggled goods
Police in Muhanga District impounded a vehicle that was loaded with bales of smuggled used clothes and shoes.
Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Karekezi, the Police spokesperson for the Southern region, said that Police in Muhanga District received a phone call from a whistlebrower at about 5am on Wednesday reporting the vehicle registration number RAD 250M, Prado TXL type, transporting smuggled bales of clothes and shoes. Gatsibo: Police extend anti-crime campaign to GS Kiziguro students
The Rwanda National Police (RNP) campaign to raise awareness against crimes was extended to students of Groupe Scolaire Kiziguro on February 26.
The campaign was conducted jointly with Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP), a youthful group that has nearly 300, 000 members across the country.
According to Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Hamdun Twizeyimana, the Police spokesperson for the Eastern region, the campaign will continue in other schools. Read more
Police arrest two notorious drug dealers
A man and woman said to be notorious drug dealers have been arrested separately by the Police in the ongoing crackdown on major suppliers.
Emmanuel Uwitonze and Vestine Nyiramahingura are said to be part of the rings that traffic cannabis into the country and supplies to local retailers especially in the Eastern Province and the City of Kigali.
Uwitonze was taken into custody on February 24, in Kigabiro Sector of Rwamagana District as he delivered 10kgs of cannabis to one of his retailers. Read more
