Minister Nyamvumba urges youth to stand for positive thinking and actions
The young people should stand for "positive thinking and actions" in the national security and development agenda to further uplift the socio-economic well-being of Rwandans, the Minister of Internal Security, Gen. Patrick Nyamvumba said.
He made the remarks on Thursday while opening the one-day congress for Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) held at Intare Conference Arena.
The 4th congress, which brought together over 1500 youth volunteers, was held under the theme: "enhancing partnership in community policing." Read more
30 Police officers complete road accident investigation course
Thirty Police officers from the Traffic and Road Safety department, on January 24, completed a week-long course on road accidents investigation.
The training of the second batch was held at Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.
It was conducted by RNP in partnership with Rhineland-Palatinate Police. Read more
Gerayo Amahoro take centre stage in community meeting
Gerayo Amahoro campaign took the centre stage on Tuesday during a community meeting that brought together about 10000 residents of the three cells of Base Sector.
Residents, during their community meeting held in Rwamahwa Cell, carried placards with road safety messages.
Daniel Nshimiyimana, the executive secretary of Rwamahwa Cell, said that they made road safety part of their meeting so as to promote its culture by understanding better traffic rules and regulations.

Five apprehended in illegal mining activities
Strengthened operations against illegal mining activities led to the arrested of five people in Rulindo District on Tuesday.
They were arrested red-handed at about 4am in a closed cassiterite concession located in Kabuga village, Nyamyumba cell in Masoro sector.

Four arrested over impersonation, bribery
Rwanda National Police (RNP) called for “vigilance” and to report of individuals, who guise as Police officers to defraud unwitting members of the public.
The force further warned against bribery including attempting to corrupt one of their own so as to either acquire illegal services or escape penalties.
This came after four people were arrested separately last Tuesday for either impersonating Police officers or attempted bribery.Read more
Rubavu: Police uncovers new mineral smuggling trick
Maombi Bahati, 40, a Congolese national could have previously succeeded to smuggle minerals into the country, but his luck run out on January 23, when a trick he probably used was unearthed.
On Thursday, as Bahati crossed into Rwanda from the DR Congo through Goma border post in Rubavu (la corniche), the Congolese registered vehicle CGO 2885AF/19, which he was driving was subjected to checks as usual.
"When the Police officer, who was searching the vehicle, opened its bonnet he uncovered consignments stashed next to the car engine," Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Bonaventure Twizere Karekezi, the police spokesperson for the Western region, said. Read more
Police officers donate blood
Police officers attached to the RNP General Headquarters, on Saturday, donated blood in a voluntary exercise held in Kacyiru.
The life-saving act followed a monthly communal work--Umuganda--where Police officers cleared shrubs and water trenches in Kacyiru.
The donation of blood was organized by Rwanda National Police in partnership with National Center for Blood Transfusion (NCBT). Read more
