Umuganda on security and hygiene extended to Kicukiro, Nyarugenge
The communal exercise—Umuganda—which is part of the 8th edition of the Security and Hygiene campaign continued this Saturday in Rwampara and Kiyovu in Kicukiro and Nyarugenge districts, respectively.
The periodic campaign is conducted jointly by Rwanda National Police (RNP) and the City of Kigali as part of the ‘green, clean and safer Kigali’ drive.
Police officers and local leaders were joined by hundreds of city dwellers to clean streets and clear shrubs in the two cells. Read more
Breaking chains of narcotics supply: Two arrested in Kigali
Strengthened efforts to break rings that traffic and supply narcotic drugs in the country led to the arrest of two people in the City of Kigali said to be part of the chain.
A woman identified as Uwingeneye Jeanette, 32, and Mugabe Alex, 40, were arrested separately in Gasabo and Kicukiro district, respectively.
Each of the suspects was arrested with a sack of cannabis. They admitted to the crime while speaking to the media at Kigali Metropolitan Police offices in Remera, where they are currently detained. Read more
Operations against substandard products reaping big
Strengthened operations against substandard and harmful products on the Rwandan market continue to reap big results, authorities said yesterday.
According to the final report of the joint operation code-named ‘FAGIA IV/OPSON VIII’ released last week, illegal, substandard and harmful as well as counterfeit and expired products valued at over Rwf41 million, were seized from shops and stores across the country.
The two-day operation conducted on February 13th and 14th, was jointly carried out by Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Rwanda Standards Board (RSB), Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority (RFDA), Rwanda Agricultural Board (RAB), Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) and Rwanda Development Board (BRD). Private security service providers urged on professionalism
Private Security Service Providers (PSSP have been called upon to aim for quality and professional services.
The call was made on Thursday by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jean Nepo Mbonyumuvunyi, the commissioner for PSSP in Rwanda National Police (RNP).
He was officiating at the opening of the two-day workshop for 20 personnel from Delta security company.
The training under the theme "Security awareness and development” was designed to improve the efficiency and professionalism of Delta security personnel in their day-to-day operations, as well as fostering their partnership with other security organs. Read more
