Nyamagabe: Rwanda National Police donates hybrid bull to residents of Sebukiniro village

Rwanda National Police (RNP) donated a bull to the village of Sebukiniro in Rugwogwe Cell, Uwinkingi Sector of Nyamagabe District to help the local farmers increase hybrid cows, improve breeds and raise milk production.

The bull pledged by RNP to Sebukiniro village last month, was officially handed over on Saturday, September 12, by the Southern Regional Police Commander (RPC) Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Innocent Rutagarama Kanyamihigo alongside the mayor of Nyamagabe Bonaventure Uwamahoro.

During the same event, four families were also given varied livestocks including a cow, goats and sheep.

The beneficiaries are those whose livestocks were either killed or taken by assailants when they attacked the village in April last year. Read more

Rubavu: Drug dealers intercepted trafficking cannabis in fire extinguisher cylinders


Police in Rubavu District have seized three bales of cannabis and pellets of the narcotic drug stashed in three fire extinguisher cylinders.

The narcotics were seized on Thursday, September 10, from two suspected trafficker in Nengo Village of Gisenyi Cell in Gisenyi Sector. Read more

Police urges community policing agents against excessive use of force


Rwanda National Police (RNP) urged community policing groups supporting in enforcement of varied directives and fighting lawlessness, against applying excessive force.

While speaking in Waramutse Rwanda (Good morning Rwanda), a morning talk-show on Rwanda Television on Thursday, September 10, RNP spokesperson CP John Bosco Kabera warned that anyone implicated or caught in such human rights violations will be held accountable. Read more

COVID-19: 25 traders arrested for violating prevention directives


On Thursday, September 10, Police arrested 25 people, who had gathered in a home to buy and sell clothes in Nyarugenge District, Kimisagara Sector, Kamuhoza cell.

The vendor, Enock Kayiranga was selling second-hand clothes from his sister’s home, Police said.

At the time of the operation at about 8am, Police and local leaders found buyers congested sorting out clothes. Read more

FOOTBALL: Sibomana Papy joins Police FC


Police Football Club signed Patrick Sibomana Papy from Tanzania's Yanga SC.

The Rwandan winger signed a two-year contract with the law enforcers on Tuesday, according to Police FC Secretary-General, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Maurice Karangwa.

COVID-19: Police urge motorists against rash driving


When the country had a sudden surge in COVID-19 cases, tighter measures were put in place. One of them is the curfew extension by two hours from 9pm to 7pm until 5am.

Although amends were made by the public and private sectors for people to be home before 7pm, traffic jam is at the climax from 6pm until past 7pm.

This was also the case before when movements were allowed up to 9pm.

This has led to an increase in road accidents, according to the road security report by the Traffic and Road Safety department, because some people and motorists in particular, are always late and they try to rush to be home in time. Read more
