RNP decentralizes driving test services

People seeking driver's license will no longer have to wait for a long time to do paper-based provisional and definitive tests after Rwanda National Police (RNP) decentralized its driving test services to 16 sites in different parts of the country.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza, on Saturday December 3, briefed teams of Police officers, who will be dispatched to the sites to start conducting continuous driving tests.  Read more...

RNP briefs EASF verification team on deployment readiness


A delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Secretariat, on Friday December 2, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) to conduct verification on the force's capabilities and deployment readiness.

The verification team headed by the EASF Force Commander, Brig Gen Vincent Gatama, is in the country for a three-day working visit to assess Rwanda's pledged capabilities and readiness.

They toured various RNP facilities and equipment at the General Headquarters at Kacyiru and Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.  Read more...

Over 240 complete 'Non-Commissioned Officers' course


The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza, on Tuesday, November 29, presided over the pass out of 247 Police officers and prison wardens, who completed a four-month Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO) course at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District.

The Police Chief embarked on what awaits them in policing and security matters.

More 276 vehicles without roadworthy certificate impounded


The Rwanda National Police (RNP) department of Traffic and Road Safety impounded more 276 vehicles without the mandatory mechanical inspection certificate, in its ongoing enforcements to improve road security.

The public transport vehicles, school buses, light and heavy trucks were impounded in City of Kigali and on varied highway across the country, according to Senior Superintendent of Police SSP Iren? Irere, the spokesperson for Traffic and Road Safety department.  Read more...

FIGHTING DRUG ABUSE: Four suspected dealers arrested


Four suspected drug dealers were arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in its operations to break chains of supply.

They were arrested separately on Tuesday, November 29, in Rulindo and Kicukiro districts with combined 13kgs and 574 pellets of cannabis.

Those arrested include one Elevanie Nyirahabimana, 30, who was apprehended in Buriza Village, Mugambazi Cell of Murambi Sector in Rulindo District with 402 rolls of cannabis.  Read more...
