Rwanda rotates two Formed Police Unit contingents in CAR and South Sudan
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) CG Felix Namuhoranye, on Monday, November 6, briefed two Formed Police Units (FPU) contingents of 340, set to be deployed for peace support operations in South Sudan and Central African Republic (CAR).
Rwanda FPU-4 of 180 officers, commanded by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Methode Munyaneza, will be deployed in Bangassou under the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Angelique Uwamariya will also head a female-dominated Rwanda FPU-3 contingent of 160 officers, to Juba under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
During the pre-deployment briefing, IGP Namuhoranye reminded them of their duty as peacekeepers to ensure the safety of civilians.Read more
PEACEKEEPING: Rwanda rotates Formed Police Unit Three in Central African Republic
Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Friday, November 10, completed the rotation of Formed Police Unit Three (FPU3-1) contingent serving under the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
The maiden Rwanda FPU3-1 contingent of 180 officers deployed in November last year in Bangassou, about 725kms from the capital Bangui, arrived home Friday evening, under the command of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Desire Kanyamagare, after a successful one year tour-of-duty.
It was replaced by Rwanda FPU3-2 commanded by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Methode Munyaneza, which left earlier in the morning.Read more
Police warns against bribery
Rwanda National Police (RNP) has warned against criminal acts of bribery, which undermine service delivery and good governance.
The RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga said that tendencies of bribery are sometimes reported in traffic related services and warned of severe measures to hold accountable anyone that will be caught in such criminal acts. Read more
Private security companies urged to aim for quality training
Private security service providers were urged to prioritize training as one of the key factors for professional and quality services.
The call was made on Friday, November 10, during the pass-out of the 'Initial Security Training' for 126 guards, including 31 female, for GardaWorld and Highs Sec private security firms, in Kigali.Read more
NGORORERO: How a woman used her baby to traffic narcotics
A 23-year old woman was arrested on Wednesday, November 8, in Ngororero District after she used her baby to conceal narcotics on her back.
The suspect was at the time traveling in a commuter from Rubavu before it was stopped in Rususa village along Rubavu-Muhanga highway. Read more

Rwanda National Police RNP shifted the Gerayo Amahoro road safety awareness to passengers and drivers in bus terminals and highways in an effort to further curb road carnage.
Police officers in different parts of the country engaged drivers of public vehicles, trucks taxi-moto operators, as well as passengers and pedestrians, on road safety standards and behaviours.Read more
