RNP bids farewell to retiring officers

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Friday, August 6, officially bid farewell to 216 officers, who were retired and discharged honorably from active service.

The send-off ceremony was held at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru, and presided over by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Johnston Busingye. Present was also the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Munyuza and DIGPs Felix Namuhoranye of Operations and Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza of Administration and Personnel.  Read more...

Police Junior Command and Staff Course students conduct study tour


Thirty-nine Police officers currently attending the eighth intake of the 'Police Junior Command and Staff Course (PJCSC) at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District, conducted a study tour.

COVID-19: Police caution drivers over illegal use of movement permit


Rwanda National Police (RNP) warned drivers against illegal use of the movement clearance permit to flaut the government directives on preventing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The warning came after scores of drivers have been arrested for misusing the movement clearance permit especially facilitating other violators.  Read more...

COVID-19: Police arrest 25 in house parties


Rwanda National Police (RNP) arrested 25 people on Saturday, July 31, who were at the time holding separate house parties in City of Kigali.

At least 19 people were found in a house located in Nyirabwana Village, Kibagabaga Cell of Kimironko Sector, Gasabo District where one Charles Muzahura, 43, had invited friends to a house party.  Read more...

Outlawed skin bleaching cosmetics seized from dealer in Rubavu


Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Monday, August 2, arrested a woman in Gisenyi Sector, Rubavu District, who was selling outlawed skin whitening creams and oils commonly known as Mukologo.

Elizabeth Mukanyangezi, 50, was found in possession of 105 pieces of assorted lotions worth over Frw315,000.  Read more...

Duo arrested for attempting to bribe Police officer


A taxi-moto operator and a security personnel for the federation of motorcycle cooperatives were arrested in Runda Sector, Kamonyi District for attempting to bribe a Police officer with Frw50, 000.

Augustin Nsanzimfura, the commercial motorcyclist, and Nzanana Evariste alias Gakara were arrested in action on Tuesday, July 3, as they tried to offer the bribe to influence the unlawful release of the former's motorcycle, plate number RE 374K, which was impounded about two months ago over varied serious traffic violations.  Read more...

Over 60kgs of cannabis seized in Police operations, eight dealers arrested

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) impounded over 60kgs and 1,225 pellets of cannabis from dealers in separate operations conducted in different parts of the country.

The narcotics were seized from eight dealers, who were alsl arrested in the operations conducted on Wednesday and Thursday in Rubavu, Huye, Gasabo  and Nyarugenge districts.  Read more...
